Well, took it out for the first time last night, and I was a little dissapointed in it. First off, I was having problems with it running out of gas somehow halfway down the track. Turned out to be nothing more than a clogged fuel filter. After we bypassed it, the truck ran alot better. We played with the timing and tuned it in a little better. Then, that's when the trans decided to really become a problem. Shifting whenever it wanted, inconsistent, starting off in 2nd gear ect..
But, it was fun, and I did still embarrass some ricers in the process . Oh yeah times(1/8th mile, unfourtunately): pass e.t. speed 60' 1st 10.417 @ 65.00 2.43 2nd 10.74 @ 64.75 2.577 3rd 9.93 @ 65.88 2.445 4th 10.012 @ 71.65 2.466 5th 10.372 @ 66.86 2.587 I had made another pass, too, but the dude gave me someone elses timeslip. I thought a 6.67 @ 98 sounded a little fast lol. |

Re: First time at the track!
Those do seem really low for a 350 truck, my truck runs a 10 flat in the 1/8 with the V6. What happened on that 3rd pass, best et but a real low mph?

Re: First time at the track!
unless you are running a really really wild 350 you have way too much carb on there, with a mild cam you should probably be with a 650 or 700 cfm at the most in my opinion.

Re: First time at the track!
yeah, I have a 650 Holley for it, but it drips gas at an idle, and makes it run terrible. On the third pass, it actually got up and went awesome, and was pulling strong until I hit third gear, then it shut off and coasted through the traps. Suck, cuz that probably would have been a high 8-second pass. that was when we checked over the entire fuel system and discovered that filter was clogged
. I'm gonna do something with that trans, and play with tuning all this week, and take it out for test&tune next week and see what it does. I'm heading to the track in just a few minutes to watch, cuz I seen some awesome looking dimes heading out there. One looked identical to mine, so I want to see what it will do.

Re: First time at the track!
I'm starting the buildup of a 9" ford rear for it. Parts are dirt cheap, and we happen to have a mostly complete one out in the ol' shop. That way I can get away from that blasted 3.08 rear end gear, too. I was gonna wait until I was ready to tub it to use this rear, but I have a feeling that 10 bolt isn't long for this world.
