Re: Ever get owned when racing?
Back when I first had my truck and thought it was super fast, I raced a AVEO when they first came out. But what I didnt know, was my clutch was going out. It beat me by like 4 car lengths and there were 4 fat people in it lol. So ya, I did get owned. Another car drove past me and the people were laughing lol.

Re: Ever get owned when racing?
not mine but a friend was telling us that he was in the next town over when he pulled beside a late 80's 5.0. the mustang started rreving his engine so reached behind the seat opened the bottle (250 shot on a 2.8 v6) built it up and gave it everything it had not knowing the car behind him was a cop.

Re: Ever get owned when racing?
1) I was in my 84 with the brand new 2.8, and I was following my friend in his 95 beat to shit escort. He had a full car, I had 1 passenger. He has the 2.0 or whatever comes in them. We come to a stop sign, I pull in the left lane, and we both take off (both are sticks). We came out about even, and I was pissed because He had probably 400-600 more pounds in his vehicle than me, and my motor has 2 more cylinders.
2) Was coming home from school in my 95 (with the shitty 305). And I pull up to the light. It's a 4 lane highway. I'm in the right lane, and a fullsize chevy diesel truck is in the far left lane. He looks at me with his tough ass stare, and I look at him. Light turns green, we both take off (my truck has the WORST hesitation from a dead stop). He gets ahead of me till about 15 mph, Then we're about even from then to 50, where he pulls on me because I let off. 3) Was cruising around with my buddy in above truck, and we came to a light. The lane on our right was one of the lanes that merge into my lane after the light. New charger pulled up next to me, and I hate people that speed up and get ahead of you so I kind of had a mind set that I wasn't going to let this c0cksmooch get ahead of me. We both took off, and all I seen was taillights. Oh, and his dealer paper in the back window and a nifty emblem that said "SRT 8". Never thought those cars were that fast till that happened. |

Re: Ever get owned when racing?
I enjoy watching the local kids up here decide I want to race them in my coupe, (Saturn with custom rotted exaust, sounds somewhat like it has a fart can on it) or in the S10 just because it has a 4.3. I'll taunt them and watch them put it to the floor in Anoka, which has a cop about every other block.
I've had a few ricers try to take me on my bike, ('01 Shadow 600) and I just blow their doors off. They don't seem to realize I have almost 2000 lbs less weight to drag around with me. Add on my high flow intake and exaust, and well, yeah. |

[quote=alexi21;2867482]
The other day I raced my friends modded GTP (same guy from story above) in my 2.2 w/5-speed. His mods are smaller supercharger pully, chip, intake, exhaust work, and a BROKEN SUPERCHARGER BELT. He said with it broken that it was the slowest thing he had drive. Well lets just say that up to 60 my 2.2 is about 3 car lengths slower and he was still pulling. [quote=alexi21;2867482] they dont have supercharger belts. |

yup same thing happened to me in my saab my shifter linkage broke between 3rd and 4th and i got the stupid guy in a civic driveing by and laughing and i had to pull the console and shifter itself and actualy shift with the rod that goes to the trans to make it home i was soo humiliated and my turbo on the saab locked up racing an lol an escort gt the car lost all boost and just fell flat on its face and the escort flew arround me like i was going backwords (come to find out later the escort had a garret turbocharger and an intercooler so much for me thinking its just a stock escort gt that runs 16s) |

Re: Ever get owned when racing?
depends on how I shift with my 2.5L. If i start out in second like I normally do then I get owned 6 times out of 10. but if I start in first and work my way through then I can hold my own, even with a top speed of 80 something.

Re: Ever get owned when racing?
I drive a mildly modded LS6 in a 2000 Xtreme. I usually turn about 7.71+ in the eighth with a fully loaded extended cab.(Also a cap on the bed) About a year ago I was stopped at a traffic light and a late 90s Civic pulled up beside me. It had primer spots, big wheels and the loudest yang yang muffler I've ever heard. He looked over at me and reved his car and I thought "Alright Dickhead" and dropped my truck into low. Long story short. He was about 4 car lenghts ahead of me in a (guesstimet) eighth (We were going on a 4 lane). I not happy. Found out later the Civic had about a $10,000 engine with turbo etc.

Re: Ever get owned when racing?
I haven't raced the 2.2 S10 yet but i'm sure 90% of cars on the road will blow it away..On the other hand when i'm in my dads cobra,,,that thing will beat 80-90% of the cars on the road.

Re: Ever get owned when racing?
MY 2002 SUBARU WRX
I get people all the time trying to race me in my modified Sube (can't blame them I guess, it does stand out a bit + sounds extremely deep, even at idle). Problem with these wannabes is they usually back out right away when they see me pull on them instantly (car gets full boost right away & launches well), so normally I just have to put it down a bit for a second or two & they've had enough already. Beat many camaros & mustangs, through at least 3 gears off the lights, but they don't want to give up, even after 3 lights doing this (sure helps when all my power is going to the ground & their cars spinning through 1st 2 or 3 gears). Friend has an Evo, but cannot launch it (close race if he can get a rolling start). However, since I haven't upgraded turbo/injectors/intercooler (dynotuned by Rocket Rally 300hp/295 torque), had 2 good races on highway. A new GTO with some mods (sounded better than stock), couldn't pull on me & I couldn't really pull on him on top end, so when we finally hit the lights, he wouldn't go for it (he knew better). Only once, a car pulled a bit on me on the highway, Cadillac XLR V 443hp ($120,000), but it was real close. When we finally hit some lights, I got really excited, but he ran the damn RED LIGHT (guess he was scared to get beat by an old 2.0 litre). MY 1987 CHEVY S10 Before it was a bit of a sleeper (blacked out camaro wheels & no headers to keep it quieter, except hard to hide the cam), so many times I could surprise people with their fancy rides, as long as I drove it really well off the line (truck would break loose really easy with old rear-end, even breaking loose on the highway once while racing a mustang, who backed right off when seen truck break loose). Just put truck back on road, but no races yet (new big drag radials, eaton posi rear & slide-a-links), so no careful driving off the line required anymore, as truck launches off the line well now. SOME OF MY OLDER CARS: But yes, I did get owned 2x, many years ago. I got beat in my Mustang Cobra (302 with 351 heads dynoed at 405hp, fully manual stage 3, 3500 stall) by a 302 zapper camaro. Although very close, got beat twice fair & square, as I couldn't get back his initial launch/traction off the line (I had only 2.73 gears & still couldn't get traction). Also one time I was driving back in the Cobra after watching the drag races, & a VW, yes a vw went by us like we were standing still (we were cruising at about 80MPH). Once my friends & gathered our senses & figured out what just happened, I put it down taking car up over 130-135MPH & holding it (car would do over 150mph), but never saw that damn VW again. Although it took a bit for us to finally start chasing him, + he must have turned off further ahead, I guess we got beat by a VW in my 405hp V8. VW was obviously one of the cars at the races (a couple of them had the twin turbo porsche motors in them). Power vs weight ratio works. My 1st car was a 57 VW shortened with a dunebuggy body that pulled the front end up in 1st & 2nd gear (I guess that's when it all started....( Hope you also like some of my experiences (not including having my stang up on two wheels on its side making a life saving maneover between 3 cars on the highway & not even a scratch. I bought a lotto ticket that day, but already used up all my luck I guess) cheers, GO FAST OR GO HOME ! |

Re: Ever get owned when racing?
My best owned moment was when i had my 88Z24 2.8 5speed....i was racing a late 80s conquest......i beat him by 5 cars or so.....he then told me his turbo wasnt workin...i was like yea ok whateva....(at that time i didnt know they were boosted)....the next weekend i saw him sittin under the ova pass wait for anyone to race so i was cocky and told him ill waste my time and let you flush that toilet again......needless to say he had his turbo fix and i didnt have a snowballs chance in hell of keepin up with him.....i didnt hear his turbo spooling cuz i was to busy being cocky blastin my music and laughin with my buddy.....i look like such a fool that night.....LMAO

Re: Ever get owned when racing?
having a 3.08 rear gear sucks royaly in my 97 4.3 with fullsize 5 speed.
However having different first and second gears is crazy. I start to spin first at 3500 unless its 80+ degrees out Will spin going into second third and will chirp fourth short shifted. as third takes me up to limiter. It's pretty fun and suprisingly fast. sucks from a roll through, unless in first or second gear. |

sorta got beat by a Porsche Cayanne Turbo in the TBSS last night. He only gunned it real quick and I hit mine as soon as possible but he pulled pretty quick from me. |

Re: Ever get owned when racing?
I've got a 4.3 ZR2 that I love to tick people off with. So one day I pulled up to a red light beside a twin turbo supra. Genius me! He had the tops off and no front bumper to show off his brand new intercooler and turbo pipes. The two guys in the car were jamming out to some devil music so as soon as the light turned green I roasted the tires and beat him to the next light. He just looked over at me and I waved and he was cool about it since I told him it was a nice car. At that light I told him to cut it loose and he did. When I saw him again he was already done getting gas at the next gas station!! haha
