almost a kill story :(

was at my friends today and hestarted talking about his moms 98 buick regal for sale, a 4-door supercharged family car. He claimed that with a chip and an exhaust he could pull low 13s

so anyways we went for a ride to find a good place to race our cars. afte we found it we ran home to grab my truck...and damnit i forgot my camera!

on the way there he kept trying to prove its power by race off the line at stop lights to try and "blow my doors" but by 3rd gear i was slowly closing Then during an open road on the way i did it to him, dropped into 2nd and just took off, he slowly closed, hit 3rd and gained my lead again, he closed and finally i hit 4th and he couldnt pull on me and i couldnt pull on him, almost dead even, but i had a nose on the regal

anyways we got the spot an did the race, he beat me but it wasnt an impressive win. i did a 2,000rpm launch and as usual those crappy tires didnt hook, but i still got one hell of a lead on him. at 3rd he was able to pass me because i missed it and grinded for a second and once i hit 4th it ended with him only a car length to 2 car lengths ahead of me, nothing to brag about and not being able to pull an inch on my car anymore(ran out of umph)

anyways afterwards he was suprised that i caught up and got a little nervous when i told him that once crane cams makes their little VVT controller, ill be able to make that agressive cam kick in at a lower rpm

so much for low 13s with a chip and exhaust

Re: almost a kill story :(

sorry but i call if you did in fact beat him its due to poor driving on his part.
in 97 the regal got the same motor as the GrandPrix GTP's a 3.8L Supercharged 240hp/280ftlbs motor.
0-60 in the sub 6.5 second range.... 1/4 mile has been rated from the low 15's to the high 14's...

im not lying at all.

he claims those regals are only good for 15.9 stock. which would prove my story if you wanna find it online. 15.9 is in theory possible for my stock colorado, im just not skilled enough to pull it off yet

Re: almost a kill story :(

Exhaust and a chip and high 13's is dooably on a supercharged 3800 that is if you got an underdrive pully on it also. You would be suprised what can be done with a supercharged 3800. I know of a guy that has a 12 sec regal gs. The motor it's self is stock. It's a pulley, computer, intake and exhaust upgrades. It is dooable.

wait just a gadamn minute, you just spent the entire thread saying that buick wasn't shit, coming up with all sorts of excuses as to why you lost. now your admiting that they're respectable cars? pick a side and stick with it.

an almost kill story is just a sad excuse to see a thread with your name on it, i guess it makes you feel better about yourself. even your name "andrewtheman" speaks volumes about how insecure a little boy you really are.

you need to learn shit before you can talk shit. you think nothing about making bold and outragous statements in one thread, and then in an adjoining thread you ask the most basic and simple questions that really show how little you know (the word for tonight is optispark) .

i don't expect you to know much at 18, but how about not kidding yourself into thinking you do.

optispark because i was guessing that LT1 problem was the same optispark problem the early camaro LT1s had?

excuses as to why i lost? other then my shitty driving and that VVT i havent really made excuses

Re: almost a kill story :(

My dad has a Bonneville SSEi, same engine, sportier car. It has some exhaust work, and an underdrive pulley for the supercharger. The computer shuts it off at 128, and I know that car won't hit low 13's in the 1/4 mile.

Re: almost a kill story :(

Okay, the guy sounds like a moron, but the car isn't slow. With a few hundred in mods you can run 13s, stock ones pull high 14s. Colorado 5cyl/5spds with intakes should pull at best a 16 flat, whilst stock Regal GS' with crap drivers should run a 15 flat at worst, so almost isn't even in this conversation.

Here's an example of the 95%-stock 3800 S/Cs wrath.

with an intake? imho a 15.9-16.0 is the lowest possible in the colorado stock no intake needed. the auto singl cabs can run 15.8s and i have an extcab stick (only like 100-200lb difference)

and like i said im not full of shit, he only got 2 lengths on me.

Is there anybody else that is tired of hearing idiots trying to vindicate the piece of shit Faglorodo? The truck is ugly, slow, and will never have the status that the S10 has.

There is not a chance that your Faglorodo could even hang with that Buick, unless he was running in reverse to give you a chance.

So shut your mouth before I slap your teeth out like Yatzee dice.

Colorado isn't THAT bad, it's just the victim of Isuzu design.

more theories and excuses.

neverthe less this is still an "almost a kill" thread which is gay as fock, yet your on here bragging about "almost" beating a car that stock for stock with equal drivers will own any colorado or s-10 for that matter.

"almost" beating somebody means diddley f*ckin shit. an inch is as good as a mile.

**** homes, calm the hell down. I'm in no way defending the Colorado by saying it's an Isuzu, I'm shaming it for that reason.

The C-Trucks are Isuzu's design. The engine, styling, and final interior touches are decided by Chevrolet and GMC. In fact, Chevrolet sells the truck as the Luv in other parts of the world, and other GM brands use the same truck throughout the world with Isuzu's engines.

It's not a ricer POS at all because it's built in the same Louisiana plant as the S-10s, and the engines are all GM North America's designs.

But now we're off-topic, back to telling Andrewtheman his truck isn't built for racing Supercharged Family Buicks.

You don't think 2 lengths is large lead? I sure do, a close race would've been your bumper at his door and since it's a 4-door you pick which one.

Well, to put in my two cents...the 3800's a respectable motor, regardless of what kind of car it's in....pick up any Jegs or Summit catalog and you'll see all kinds of performance parts for them.

being a former pontiac gtp owner, those cars(among buick regals, chevy monty carlo ss, etc.) are fisking fast cars. with a 3.4 dia. s/c pulley, fully upgraded exhaust, tuning and 1.9 ratio rocker arms with traction, 13`s are easy.and most weigh about 3600-4000 lbs depending on model, brand, etc. With the regal, it most likely weighs 3800~ lbs,its auto, and your friend most likely did not launch well if it was close,IF it was close.good day.

This is why I bought a frontier instead of a colorado hehe. it's much better designed and is more american now(built in Smyrna Tennessee) than the colorado is.

By the way, we all know that any race posted in this forum means nothing if it doesnt match what the cars do on paper.

That was with a shit 2.42 60ft time due to not being able to come out the hole...Stock rear suspension is a little soft and the wheelhop was horrendous. I havent been back since the traction spring upgrade, and waiting on the HPTuner to come in now.

Everyones upset cause the S10 isnt being made anymore...it was a good truck..but it wasnt gold, and needed to be replaced, and exactly what STATUS is the S10 have other than its the civic of mini-trucking. Don't get me wrong, I like S10's, help do fabrication work on em, have done a few engine swaps, and pretty much know the trucks inside and out, but its not high class transportation.

Re: almost a kill story :(

15.8 jeez... I'm running more than a half second quicker at the same trap speed. and my 60' time was only .03 quicker

I was pretty set on getting a colorado exactly like yours until i test drove the Frontier. The difference in quality is huge. Plus it has the best motor out of the whole bunch, even more power than dodge's V8. The only one out there that might be better is the supercharged toyota x-runner, but those are a bit more pricey and are only limited production.

I should be running high 14's now that i have my exhaust on my truck. It really woke it up throughout the power band, but especially low and mid range.

The reason the e.t. is so bad is due mainly to the rear leafs. Everytime the wheels start to spin, the truck started to wheelhop REAL bad and had to get off the gas. Hence the reason I invested in traction springs for the rear..really helped out. Prolly good for a 15.4 at best right now though. Im hoping to hit 14s with the tuner, mnor exhaust work, and an intake. The Frontier is a really nice truckand I had been looking at a couple of them, but I found my colorado at a deal, so I picked it up.
