91 S-10 4.3 V-6 vs. Friends V-8 Taurus

So were ready to start the race interior lights out everything ready foot on the brake and givin a little gas gotter in gear hands drop and we take off I get an awsome lead then all of a sudden VROOM! outa there. That taurus had some balls hahaha. we come back to talk and he goes dude it I thought you had me and I'm like yea I thought I had you too. He goes noo I had it half way on the start and said F*** it and Slammed the gas. I'm like SHIT! My hopes go up and then he tells me that... oh well another race lost. LATA

I thought SHO's were 3.8 v6's

They made 2 kids of SHO's. The first used the Yamaha engine and they had 240hp and were pretty quick just a mid 15 second car. The other SHO uses a 4.6V8 and they are much faster.

the older shos have a 3.0 yamaha v-6 making 220hp. the newer style shos have a 3.4 v-8 making 240hp.

Actually yamaha worked on all the motors, and they ranged from 3.0L v6, then 3.2L v6, then finally the v8 is a 3.4L

on one of the car and driver episodes there was a guy who dropped an SHO 3.4 v-8 in the back of a festiva and supercharged it. It was really funny he outran an lamborghini diablo in the 1/4

Who cares they're all ugly as all hell, fast but UGLY! The Kato Combat Body Kit might actually make one look decent, never soon one paint n done up with it tho, or anything shots from the rear

Yeah they are ugly, the 99's are better looking than the previous ones, but still nothing great. And actually, the v6 models are faster than the 3.4 v8 sho's!

Seen a video from that site, I am skeptical of the power output they are claiming, 400+ whp from most of them, all rolling start races, but impressive I suppose.

I almost bought a v-8 SHO, but I'm glad i didn't. One of the bigger turn-offs is the 3speed auto tranny.....

Here on some specs on the older & newer ones. The 89 is actually the quickest year made. Dont underestimate them as slow. Lots of potential. I raced one tonight & actually pulled ahead of him about a car length to a car length 1/2. Then on the highway he wanted to run again. We started at about 55 and went to a little over a hundred. We stayed even that whole time. I wanted to see what the new ones ran because I am very familiar with the older ones & what they can do. I realized why he wanted to race on the highway after getting beat from a start. They are suppossed to be a lot faster from 55-60 on. Anyway I was pretty happy with the results, so here are some stats:

I put a SHO absolutely to shame one time on the freeway.... but then again i was driving my dad's Jaguar XJ-12 at the time. That V-12 pulled hard at freeway speeds and well above.

Yeah, those were fast. My dad has a 560SL that is fast. Suprises the crap out of folks. I didnt realize they were as fast as they are till I went with him to buy it. I love to drive it but I am a little cramped in it.
