I have a complete 2wd rear disk setup. everything is there but the rotors and pads, as used rotors and pads are not worth shipping. Have the backing plates, calipers and caliper mounts and the e-brake cables if you can make them work. i was thinking 300 shipped was a fair price, but let me know what you are thinking, they are just taking up space in a box on the shelf.
I can also go to the local pick and pull and get the complete 98+ front setup if you want, depending on what your willing to pay, again no rotors or pads. I did this for another member that was up north and having trouble finding 2wd parts that were not all rusty.
My local pick and pull charges right at 170.00 for the spindles, calipers and caliper mounts with core charge and tax for both sides, and 192 if you want the hub bearings that may or may not be any good. When i got the parts for the other member he didn't want the bearings, but one was fairly new and the other was bad so its hit or miss on the hub bearings.
Shipping for the front brake parts without the hubs was right about 65-70 bucks, and shipping for the rear would probably be around 40-45 since the calipers are aluminum and lighter.
to install the rear disk, you remove the rear cover, cross pin and axle c-clips, then remove the drums and pull out each axle. Good time for seals and bearings if needed. Unbolt the drum brake backing plate 4 bolts from the axle flange, the disk brake backing plate bolts right up to the same flange, but you have to get a 1/4" spacer that they sell because the drum brake axle is 1/4" longer than the stock disk axle, the spacer goes between the backing plate and axle housing flange and bolts right up, then slide the axles back in, c-clips then cross pin and bolt and new cover gasket and fill with fresh gear oil, then the rotors slip on and the caliper with bracket bolts right on. Its not a hard swap at all. The ebrake cables is what takes alittle work to make it work. But you could cut down the stock blazer cables and attach them to shortened stock rear cables with some cable clamps and make it work pretty easy.
ok so it will bolt up.. ya i have had many rears apart but never put disk brakes on a drum rear. so was not sure if i needed a bracket to mount them up.
so need the spacer... i think i can make one.. that will same me a few bucks...
so ill need rubber brake lines right .. your dont have them?
and ill need to redo my rear brake line... no biggy..
just trying to figure all this out in my head so i now what i need, or have to fab up.
im hoping really soon ill start on my baggin.. have 99.9% of the stuff ill need.. and would be nice if i did the rear brake while im there lol..
are you firm on 300 for the rear setup???
and no im not trying to low ball you.... im sure we can work something out. as i have been wanting better brakes for some time.
as i HATE my drum crap....
and thanks for offering your rear setup and offering to pick the front setup for me...
as i cant find crap around here. about 99% are 4wd or the wrong years....
and when one does show up it does not last....
and ill take you up on the front setup down the road.. if that ok with you.. and really thanks for your help..
S10 Warehouse on eBay sells the spacers for 35 shipped, i have a set that i bought years ago when i bought the rear brake parts but cant seem to find it, if i find it i can include it. I'm am fairly firm on the 300 shipped, back a few years ago this whole setup on eBay would run you around 225-275 plus shipping so i feel its a good deal.
The calipers may have the stock blazer rubber lines on them, but if not then you can get some stock lines from the parts store, and modding the stock lines isn't that hard.
Let me know when your ready to do the front, 98+ 2wd Blazers are pretty abundant in the bone yards around here, and occasionally on holidays the pick and pull offers a 40% discount, which im sure they will do again for labor day next month just to keep that in mind.
sorry i did not get back sooner.. been in hospital and not doing good.
but anyway i want the rear setup.
thats if we can work out a payment plan..
i only get money 1 time a month ( disability ) . i have to pay for my upper arms this month. as me and the guy on here worked out a deal and payment plan. so have to pay that firts.
but could throw some money your way to hold them...
its up to you....
and you do like he did, he still has the arms untill i pay in full. your a good dude so i have no worries.
