what do you think of Boss Audio?

I've been looking around and I found a company called Boss that makes high power speakers, amps, and decks for a steal. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...433.html#specs

they also make a deck with usb input (or atleast they did a few years back I think it's discontinued now)

edit:negative they still make it (usb,bluetooth,3.5mm) http://www.sonicelectronix.com/cat_m...-included.html

also being new to the whole car audio area:
wouldn't this be better
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...ss+BL4650.html
than this?
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...XS-V4642A.html

I mean who can actually hear 33 khz? (that isn't your dog Farfo)

Re: what do you think of Boss Audio?

Sony

Boss

Do not buy either, you can find much better for the price or a little more. look in the classifieds for good used equipment.

Re: what do you think of Boss Audio?

kenwood? Also I already have Sony Xplod 6.5s for my s10 and I'm actually quite satisfied. Seriously can you tell me anything wrong with these specs? http://www.bossaudio.com/main/898

I know they make 500W+ but I don't see the point since I'm not going to take it to shows it's mostly for me to hear not everyone else... well :P.

what makes 500W+?

those 4x10's will not handle 200watts rms

Just for some sound, they will do though, better than nothing. For the price, go for it.

Re: what do you think of Boss Audio?

still not gonna handle over 200 TRUE watts RMS, NOT BOSS AUDIO wattz. just tryin to help out. DONT GO BY THE RATED PEAK POWER man, srsly, a quality speaker on 65-75 watts will sound SOOO much better than those.

btw, are you only upgrading the 4x10 speakers?

Re: what do you think of Boss Audio?

nah, the 4x10s and the 4x6s. Also by sound better do you mean crisp or... loud... or... define better. I thought the only things that mattered were: cone composition, Watts, range, and tweeter cone composition if not help XD.

a good speaker will sound crisper and louder at higher volumes without distortion. of course as long as you are giving it clean power, not HU power!

but for what your doing, i would look into Pioneers or Alpines for the 4x6's ditch the 4x10's, get a good set for the doors.

or, just get a good component set for your doors or kick panels (my preference) and thats all you need.

example: buddy of mine has 2 6.5" lightning audio 2-way coaxials, 2 fusion 5.25" 2-way coaxials, 2 Pyle Dryver Pro bullet tweeters running off a Sony 50wx4 walmart amp. <<< complete garbage, all of it.

I only have a set of Phoenix Gold RSD 6.5" components in Q-logic kick panels running active on my Sundown SAX100.4 (true 100w x 4 @ 4 ohms) and it is amazing for only one set of components. Blows his sh!t out of the water.

Re: what do you think of Boss Audio?

not at all, what matters is the motor for them, if the voice coil sucks then everything else will too

Re: what do you think of Boss Audio?

its a combination of everything.. if you are only paying 30 bucks for a pair of speakers ($15 each) how much do you think it costs to make them? since they are obviously a business making a profit.... I wouldn't feel happy buying a <$15 speaker even if they did cost that much (but im assuming less than that)

Re: what do you think of Boss Audio?

Boss is flea market trash. At least go to wal-mart and get the pioneer drop ins for your truck. You'll be so much happier.

Re: what do you think of Boss Audio?

actually they cost $55.00 but I can get them for 30. Also Wal-Mart does not and will not sell 4x10 speakers. I'm just wondering if you could recommend a brand of speakers. Pioneer you say? Like these? http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...+TS-A4103.html which have lower specs than the Boss (including the fact that they are only 2 way) What about these:
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...se+SE8405.html
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...ahn+AS41V.html < like
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_457_Kenwood+KFC-415C.html <-like

Re: what do you think of Boss Audio?

i rocked a boss amp in my first car for 4 years almost 10 years ago. it did the job, but was clearly over rated. was good for the price but i was never fully happy with it. you may or may not have good luck with it, but if I were you, i'd save a little bit more money and get something that'll make you happier in the long run.

They used to but its been years since I've thought about putting 4x10s back in anything.

I had some boss stuff years ago and can tell you whatever they say they are rated at divide it by half and hope your getting that. But to tell you the truth if it was me I would ditch the 4x10s and get some 6x9s or 6.5s in boxes behind the seat. 4x10s all pretty much suck for anything but making noise.

Seems you have your mind made up and doesn't matter what we try to say to help you your dead set on it.

Re: what do you think of Boss Audio?

i took a good couple of weeks looking for the best 4x10's and nothing out there impressed me at all.

if your going to put sound in your truck and you want it to last you might aswell spend the money of atleast 1/2 way decent speakers that you can then amplify later.

the alpine 4x6's are great. i went with the infinity's cause they claim to have more speaker surface then the alpines....i couldnt be happier with what i have put together....
