Sub help....jackhammers

I got a MTX mono amp and 2 mtx jackhammers each speaker is 4 ohm rated. I have them wired in parellel to get a 2 ohm load from the amp. As of now they are in 2 seperate boxs. I have the pos and neg from Sub 1 hooked to the amp terminals and have Sub 2 hooked to the terminals of Sub box 1.

Instead of having 1 speaker hooked to the amp and the other speaker hook to that 1st sub. Can I hook both speakers wired straight to the amp and recived 2 ohm load.

Heres a pic of what im talking about. Part A is how its hooked up now. Part B is what Im trying to figure out.

Since its a mono amp it has 1-positive and 1 negative speaker output. Can i hook the Positive of Sub 1 & Sub 2 to the same Possitive terminal on the amp and hook the Negative from Sub 1 & Sub 2 the the same Negative terminal on the amp to make 2 ohms

Here is a better picture of what Im asking. In Step 3 it shows 2 subs wired to the same output terminals on the amp. Instead of 1 sub wired to the amp and the other sub wired to the first sub. Im looking to get a 2 ohm load

i thought it was worded well and he had a legitimate question....sort of. better than 90% of the shit that comes on here.....

to the op, yes you can wire them both to the amp, what you are trying to do is called parallel, my question is why change the way it is now. you can do that, i just don't understand it. it's the same exact thing.... and i'd be willing to bet those boxes are prefab.....you should build new boxes to meet the requirements of your subs....

Re: Sub help....jackhammers

there is no difference between wiring the 2 subs to the amp rather than wiring one sub to another sub that is wired to the amp. i think you might be able to get a 2 ohm load by wiring them parallel. someone correct me if im wrong?

those don't actually sound all that bad from what i've heard of them, in the circuit city booths and whatnot..maybe trying to rid themselves of the joke that the regular jackhammer was..

Re: Sub help....jackhammers

Im sorry, but I dont see how you can run two subs in parrallel off the amp. Wiring the subs off of each other will give you a 2 ohm load, if done correctly. Otherwise, just from the picture I have in my head, wiring both subs up to the one channel for output on a mono amp should give you a series and introduce an 8ohm load.

If I am wrong, then I give Joe complete permission to call me whatever you want. Including, but not limited to, sweety and or darling.

Re: Sub help....jackhammers

Can I call you something...?

You can wire them in parallel, then wire up the DVCs. It will drop back down to a 4ohm or 2ohm load...

Re: Sub help....jackhammers

Thanks for all the messages, I kept them hooked up the same way. Just to clarify that are 12" Mtx Jack hammers. I got two hook up to Mtx Thunder 600XD amp. They bang alot harder than the 12" Kicker comps I had. Makes everthing in my lil standard cab s10 shake like a mofo. Oh and I would agreee if I spent that Much on two of the 22" Jack Hammers I would be a ****ing idiot.
