Re: sound system show off!!

What he probably meant by 2 channel mono amp is that its a mono amp with 2 pair of terminals for the subs meaning (2) + and (2) -

but internally wired as a mono amp.

Re: sound system show off!!

MTX does that to, it's to simplify an install with a sub box that has 2 sets of wires, instead of stacking them, it's like a speaker output Y-adapter.

Yeah I know.... but it's just as easy to put 2 wires into 1 terminal (twist them together...).

Idk... it doesn't affect the performance of the amplifier, so I'm not complaining.

(actually I think it's kind of neat, because it's an amp for the non-noobs out there that actually know what they're doing )

thats right man its just really easy to do it the way that looks good, because having 4 wires on one terminal is just not the way to go.I mean like you were saying it doesn't do anything to the performance of the amp so either way.

Personally i would have thrown some LEDs in, but thats just me

Those arent 10s are they?...if so how did you manage to them in without hitting against the seat and not bottoming on the box (unless they are shallow...which im not sure MTX makes)

.....I might have to look into getting myself some 3/4 Plexi/Lexan for when i break down and get subs.
if im correct its actually 1/2" stuff, they are 10's... that box and subs are just laying in my garage now, i upgraded to a lot louder set up, one ported 10"

Re: sound system show off!!

Feels good to post in this thread again.. the pictures should speak for themselfs.

I also replaced the carpet insert in my tailgate. I used the same carpet on my trim ring. Im really happy with the way it came out, and plan on doing the same thing to my center console, and my doors.

I tried to get a getter shot, but it was dark and I had the camera above my head.. This is the best I could do.

Enjoy, thoughts and comments are welcome. thanks to everyone who's helped along the way.

Re: sound system show off!!

w00t!! Heres some seldom seen shots of my Sonoma that sits in my driveway and chill's all year. I literally put about 100 miles a year on it in the past 5 years! Cleaned it up this past weekend and figured Id document it hehe!
1998 Sonoma "Root Beer" zq8

Punch 40 tank of an amp (14 years old, I think..)

Olllllld School Kicker Comp 12 Used to run ISO Clamshell off that 40 but it was way too much for any kind of practical listening with un-amped front stage. Never did get around to carpeting it! Also about 14 years old and still rockin away

Kicker Resolution (more old school) 6.5's with Kenwood Tweets

Now stock radio (used to be a nice Clarion unit with DSP and all that crap til it died one day way back when

Since most have seen my s10 in avatar, i figured Id post the old Sonoma since its clean for once!

This is just my opinion because I know everyone on here when it comes to audio get their panties in a bunch.

If space is limited these are great subs, but if your looking for a flat sub the JLs are the way to go... If space is not an issue you have more options on sub choices.

Their cool but I wouldn't buy them unless I had a single cab, and if I did I would buy the JL's

Re: sound system show off!!

sure, but I paid $200 for 2 of the Pioneers, and the JL's are what? $500 for 1? Im perfectly happy with mine, they play some great sounds and keep up perfectly with the rest of my system. If I was to re-do the system in my s10 (which due to the exhaust noise NEEDS to be loud) Id go with Pioneer shallows again.
