Re: s10 reg cab speaker box
I come up with about o.74 cuft per side before displacement. That is a little small for most 12's, so you will probably want to put about 3/4-1 pound of fiberfill( pillow stuffing available at most fabric stores ) in each chamber to make the enclosure act as if it is a little larger.
Post some pics when you get everything installed. After looking, kickers basic recomendation is 1.0 cuft per sub before displacement( the amount of airspace the speaker occupies ). With some stuffing you are close to that but the box will probably be peaky at a higher frequency...should be workable though. The rec. enclosure for sound quality is over 4 cuft per sub. It also drops the power handling to 300 watts vs. the 400 the smaller box is rated for. Last edited by crux131 : 11-05-2009 at 09:10 PM. |

Re: s10 reg cab speaker box
My rough estimate was also guessing you used 3/4" MDF/wood to build the box.

Re: s10 reg cab speaker box
If You do not need the center area for amplifier mounting, you could gain some airspace by using the whole 52" width.
If you do so, you could even narrow the bottom to 8", gain some leg room back and still gain a portion of a cubic foot per chamber. If using a single shared chamber you would get about 2.23 cuft total. You could add a divider but you would have to account for the airspace it would take up...though I would still add some sort of brace. Plus sometimes a shared chamber will perform slightly( just slightly ) better than two separate sealed chambers of similar size. Add in some fill as mentioned and you might notice more of a difference. At the very least you should gain back about a click on the seat tracks. I would still put about 1.5-2 pounds of fill in the single chamber though...like Old_School_Noma mentioned. Last edited by crux131 : 11-06-2009 at 02:28 AM. |
