what are you looking for? are you dead set on an 18" for show?

a very respectable subwoofer in that price range would be an alpine type R 15". if you have the power to back one up, it will get nice and loud and it's not low quality like MA subs are.

if you really want an 18", Fi SSD would be good

i could probably have a couple more suggestions...

Re: opinions on MA audio

a pair of Type R 12" aren't too bad and if you hate them, they're well known enough to audio n00bs that they resell pretty easily.

which subs? and of course you can. you can run anything for competition SPL. whether or not you'll win depends on a lot more than just what subwoofer you're using

Re: opinions on MA audio

i personally would never take an 18 to a spl competition. slightly less cone area with 2 12's but much more potential.

Re: opinions on MA audio

No sir...As a former MA owner, I will never own them again, or recommend them. The only thing I can say about them is their customer service was pretty good. I blew them, called customer service, they emailed me a form, and replaced them for $30 shipping. Sold them for $125 for the pair. (MA120xe)
