New System in the making!!!!

Well i went to Slammin and Jammin, and i thought i broke some stuff. and come to find out i broke one of the braces inside the box!

So i am going to start building my new box as soon as Fi lets me know what kind of air space i need for each new 8 they have. here are pics of the old setup, and what the Re's look like compared to the new Assassin 8's from Ascendant!

Re: New System in the making!!!!

Sorry about the questions. i have seen your setup bug never got how you got it to fit behind your seats??

ooooooooooooo and how many Fi 8s do you plan on getting? 12?

Re: New System in the making!!!!

i did some cutting on the plastic and the metal support behind the seats gained about 1 1/2 inches total from that. and i am 5'8" tall.

The seats are pushed up some. the new box will be almost twice the size as this one if my calculations are correct. i will be using 1/2 inch mdf on the bottom and back of the box to save on internal space.

oh and i am sealed, maybe 12 if the air space is right on them. if not maybe 10 or less. but i should do a better number with less anyway.

but hopefully 12 if they can be 1/2 a cube per sub.

Re: New System in the making!!!!

Well i have done some figuring. i think i am going to get a in bed tool box and move my amps back there with some fans to keep them cool. I had my MTX amp shut off twice on Saturday for being too hot.

My box dimensions for now are

54 long, 24 tall, 9.25 wide top, 11.25 wide bottom. using 1/2 mdf on bottom and back, and 3/4 on all other sides. it should be 6.22 cubes total before sub displacment, and i can probably squeeze some more out somewhere if need be.

Re: New System in the making!!!!

if you're moving your amps to the tool box, take off the amp's covers so the fans can cool off more of the board (if you haven't already)

i remember seeing that prototype picture a while back, i liked it then and i still like it now

Re: New System in the making!!!!

Is there a peticular reason you have so many 8's?

You could do a blowthrough with two 12's and hit the same or higher!

What are you hitting now?

Re: New System in the making!!!!

i am right at 150 right now. i should be in the 152-153 range when i get finished with the new setup.

and the main reason for so many 8's is room! i can get more 8's to have more cone area then 2 12's in a std cab. and i could do a blow through but then i would be just like everyone else. it's what makes my setup different then everyone elses. it makes my truck stand out that much more, since it is one of the only hombres that is modded and goes to shows.

and if you ever get a chance to sit in my truck or get around it, you will understand why i have soooo many 8's and understand how LOUD they get. it's just cool watching people freak out over how loud it is, then they see it's a bunch of 8's, and freak out again. ask the other s10 forum guys that saw it this weekend at Slammin and Jammin. they know...

Re: New System in the making!!!!

Couple of things, first....

Does anyone have any suggestions on high amps? i have 1 MTX amp now, and need another. But i was thinking of changing to something that looked similer to the Incriminator amp, maybe US amps? but i don't know if their high amps are any good. i was looking at the xterminator series. I need either 2 amps 1 to power all the speakers in my doors, which will ne 4 5 1/4's and 4 tweets, and then 1 to power 1 4" and a tweet on each side of the dash.

then if anyone is interested in my box, subs, and amps. let me know...

Re: New System in the making!!!!

well so far here is the idea for my setup for the tool box. it should look somthing like this. with power and ground coming from the passengerside, and rca's coming from driverside to keep noise to a minimum. The fans will be hooked to the remote wire to kick on when the amps turn on. I think it should look sweet. tell me what you guys think?

and where the battiers are is just a cut away to show you what they would look like inside the tool box.
and there will only be one 20.1 and 2 smaller amps for my highs. not two 20.1's

Like 20 bucks a piece + shipping. i will not sell them seperate untill i know no one wants the whole deal. i would knock off 125 to take off the mtx342 amp so it would be 675 for everything but the small amp . but just pm me if you have any questions

Re: New System in the making!!!!

cool. i can't wait to get this going good!!!! i have 2 sponsers for sure. And maybe a couple more.

Powermaster ( i am getting battieres from them prob three of them. 2 group 31's and 1 normal battery for under the hood!)

And Second Skin Sound Deadening is still sponsering me.

Incriminator Audio, i should be able to get a pretty good deal on my amp, from Nick.

And hopefully i can work something out with Fi/Ascendant and get a good deal on subs!

If i could do that, i may be able to talk to someone about getting highs!!!

Re: New System in the making!!!!

Just got finished looking at some US AMPS. anyone know where i can check prices online at?

My warehouse for work carries them, and the prices they gave me were unbelieveably low!!!!!!!

the amps i am thinking about getting are:

XT1600.2= 400 watts X 2 @ 2ohms for the doors.

and

XT800.2= 200 watts X 2 @ 2ohms for the dash

Re: New System in the making!!!!

ok anyone have anything good to say about the US amps i listed above?

I found out i can also get RE subs through work too! lol good prices to boot!

The amps are gonna run me:

XT1600.2=206 after taxes
XT800.2=124 after taxes

I can also get the XT4000D amps for 330 after taxes...he he he

Granted with as many mids/tweets i will be running each will get roughly 50 watts a piece. Now that doesn't sound like alot but with ten 5.25's, and ten tweets. It should be loud as hell to match the subs!

Re: New System in the making!!!!

another qestion?

In thinking about highs/mids. would it be worth doing four 5.25's in each door along with 4 tweets, then one 5.25 and one tweet on each side of the dash? or just leave out the dash speakers?

to me i don't think the dash speakers will make that big of a difference with 4 mids and 4 tweets in each door!

what do you guys think?

Re: New System in the making!!!!

i say leave out the dash speakers more than likely. since your doors are going to be totally custom anyways, you can set your stage up nice and high on them and be fine.

btw, i have nothing bad to say about US amps, i'd probably buy one if i could afford another amp at this time. although i'm a bigger fan of ppi and sundown, US ain't bad.

you should hook me up with a deal later on

Re: New System in the making!!!!

ok new question how should i arrange the mids/tweets in the doors? should i run 4 of each, or 5 of each?

I think 4 would be plenty, but what arrangement would get the best sound?

here is my factory door panel. the speakers can't go above the red line due to power windows, and where the door closes and the panel isn't exposed to the inside. either 5.25's and 1 inch tweets of 5in.

thanks,
Ryan

Re: New System in the making!!!!

OK for reference on the picture above. from the map holder to the door jam i have 10" of work area, from the bottom of the panel up i have 12".

So that gives you an idea of what i can put where.

Re: New System in the making!!!!

4 total. even number makes wiring less of a headache. and here's my idea for them:
one on top of another one forward on the panel where the stock speaker location is. that should fit in the space you provided (and if not, there's a little more space in the front there). then centered between them, but behind them on the door in a line would be the next two. if you did all 4 in a line like that, or did 5 or whatever, by the time you get to the rear of the door, your seats are blocking the sound and its also getting really close to interfering with your subs in the rear.

then put your tweeter array above the red line and from the point where your current tweeter is and forward. maybe glass an angle into the door panel so they're pointing at you. that should raise your stage up to a good level and it all should fit pretty well

kind of like so:

Re: New System in the making!!!!

cool!!!!

here are the measurements i can work with on the door. so by these measurements i could do all 4 on the bottom corner where the factory speaker was.

EDIT::

also any reason why you have the tweets over that far? could i just mount them on the flat plane to the left?

also should i angle the speakers any towards the passenger and driver, or leave them straight?

and should i use 5.25"s, or 6"s?

Re: New System in the making!!!!

tweeter placement was arbitrary, just a general location really. i was really just concentrating on the midbass placement. but i do still think that the tweeters should be above the red line to raise your stage.

if you're the one in your truck the most, i'd angle them to where you sit. that is, unless you carry a passenger most of the time, then i'd set the angle up to where its centered in the cab. its up to you though. try taping the tweeters at different angles to see how you like the sound before you get too far into the project.

damn son!!!!!

i still think since i can get us amps at work for nothing, i am going with 1 1600.2 for my doors. should be good roughly 50 watts per speaker for a total of 16 mids/tweets. i think it will sound nice!

looks like an awesome setup. I had kick panels with 5 1/4" infinitys in them in my last truck with no problem with the e-brake and it was a 5 speed. Just something you might want to look into.

Re: New System in the making!!!!

crutchfield has the 5s for $170 i beleive. I think it's only the 6s that require bending the ebrake. I use it all the time too which is why I didn't get them 7 years ago with the truck

Re: New System in the making!!!!

hmmm, another $170?????

i think i should be fine with all them in the doors. it would save me 170 bucks. i am doing the doors custom anyway and all 4 will probably be at the bottom corner, so another 5 inches to be on the kick won't make that much difference i don't think atleast.
