Re: Looking for a good sub
you have to tell us what you're looking for. price range, power wise, vented or sealed, available space. too many variables.

Re: Looking for a good sub
Going in my Camry, maybe taking out the back seat and doing a nice trim piece to seal it to the cab. Probably sealed if I do the 18, ported for the 12. I have a zx1500.1 and may buy another down the road if the sub can take it. As far as price range it just depends if I like what I see.

Re: Looking for a good sub
The last 18 soloX i installed i built a sealed enclosure and ran 2 zx2500.1's i to each voice coil. Kicker lists that sealed boxes for the SOLOX range from 3 cuft to 12cuft depending on the application. Ported applications are for SPL only and are not meant to be used for regular music. The last box i built was sealed at 5 cu ft and it hits stupid loud. But on that camry you might want to get air ride or juice because your box and woofer are going to weigh about 2-300 lbs if built properly. Honestly i would get 1 15"L7 and bang the hell out of it with that 1500.1.

Re: Looking for a good sub
If you are merely wanting to hear brand names, go to ebay and look around. As dimedrop has said, there are many factors that will influence your choices. No better answer can be found than if you ask the right questions.
Imagine a 502 big block on a go-kart. On paper, it might seem like the best choice for a high horsepower cart; but we immediately know better, don't we? |

Re: Looking for a good sub
And with the amp+sub combo. Dont make the mistake of mix and matching amps and subs. These companys build there woofers in a lab with there amplifiers. They are tested with there amplifiers. If you start mixing you are never going to get the best sound out of your products and you will run the risk of damaging something.

Re: Looking for a good sub
mixing and matching subs and amps is fine. theres no harm in it. a properly matched combo is much more important....

Re: Looking for a good sub
Terminal velocity is constant; at what speed I don't remember (126.xx?). Now, if you take a 2000lb weight and strap it to your ankles, toss the weight and yourself out of a plane (with you atop the weight), let go of the weight and free fall. Do you think that you would feel the weight pulling you to the ground? Would it rip your feet right off of your legs? Of course this whole thing assumes that you have separated from the weight at terminal velocity. |
