Keyless entry/remote starter/alarm in first gen hook up
Been thinking about it seriously for awhile, and now after my gf bought a newer car that has one, Iv decided Im going to install a keyless entry, alarm and remote starter system. I looked on JC Whitney and found this one, relatively cheap, any ideas?
I dont need the starter, but what the hell. I could install it myself, its a task, but I have done it before. according to the page I dont need any more relays unless I hook the back hatch unlock or starter kill, which I would install the first one. or this one without the starter: this one has everything built in as far as relays go, but I got a feeling come winter Ill be missing that rem. start feature. lol |

For starters your links just go to jcwhitneys home page.
Do you have power locks now? if not you will have to add in door lock actuators. Just remember that you usually get what you pay for. And a heads up, if you do by chance get in over your head most shops will not work on a brand they do not carry especially if you have tried to install it too. and if they will they will usually charge you more and give you no warranty. |

Re: Keyless entry/remote starter/alarm in first gen hook up
hmm, sorry the links dont work, but im not really buying it for the alarm, never had a problem, and nothing really in my truck anymore. more for the keyless entry part, the alarm is just an added benifit.
I should be able to do it, I have power locks, so that wont be an issue, just all the wiring might take some work, but I have done it a few times with my brother in the past, shoudlnt be an issue. |

Re: Keyless entry/remote starter/alarm in first gen hook up
I dunno man...I've installed a ton of remote start/keyless entry/alarm systems over the last 10 years. I'm very partial to DEI products (Viper alarms, Valet remote start/keyless entry systems). They seem to be the most reliable of all products I've installed.
Check out ebay. I've bought several of these units on there, usually on the cheap side. |
