Well, I finally got around to upgrading the stereo in the 02 as I have been wanting to. I bought a Kenwood DDX271 and found that even though I had the proper 03 DD Bezel, there isnt a mounting kit that will work so onto Plan B, cut and make my own, sort of...
The mounting holes on the 02 are a funny size compaired to the ones on my 2003 S-10 so I took to the extra 03 bezel I had with a dremel and cutoff disk. Once I got the Kenwood jacket to slide in I bent over some prongs and got out the JB Weld KwikWeld.
I also had to slice out a section of the inner dash (above radio) to make it go in. I still have to shape/sand the JB Weld, but the radio is in. I love this radio, Crossovers, DVD, USB (reads upto 5000 files). Now its time to get new subs/amp to bring the boom back.
Here's a pic, I will post a new pic after the JB Weld cures overnight and I do some sanding to smooth the opening a bit. The jacket is in there good, the radio doesnt sag at all and I am happy with it. (the trimplate isnt on yet)
