Help!

I've got an issue with my stereo and amps and stuff. Now, when I turn my cd player even on volume 1 ,I get an earpiercing god awful noise and no music b/c its covered up by this horrible ear piercing shrill. Im pretty sure It has to do something with my power or signal wires, but I'm not 100% sure. Seeing if anyone might have an idea before I tear everything apart tommorow to fix the problem. I think it may be a power wire touching something, or either one of my signal wires crossed over my power wire, but Im not sure. And if it helps, my two sets of rca cables, and power wire is run down the same doorsill, but I've had it like this for a little over a year with no problems so I dont know. Any help guys?

Re: Help!

Remote wire. I beleive it's too close to the ground. I'm about to run mine through the headliner because I tried running it right over the driveshaft tunnel, and well now I have an airbag light on all the time

Re: Help!

check and recheck all of your grounds. replace fuses. test power wire with a DMM. move your RCAs away from the power wire. ground your RCAs. upgrade your RCAs to quality shielded RCAs if you don't move your RCAs away from the power wire (and upgrade even if you do move them).

then tells exactly what equipment you have including brand and model of each piece as well as what size wires you're using and how things are wired. we can better diagnose the problem by knowing exactly what you have.

Re: Help!

Alright....for amp power wire, I have a rockford fosgate 4 gauge kit w/ 100 amp inline fuse run from my fuse block under hood, thourgh firewall, through doorsill to the back wall of my cab to a dist. block that has two strands of 8 guage, one to each amp. For amps I have a Kicker zx250.2 for my kicker rs components, and a pioneer 800 watt mono for my sub, cant think of part number, I have my remote wire run from cd player to the back down the same door sill, then bridged from amp to amp. I have both sets of rca's run from splitters out the rear of the cd deck run down the same side of the truck to the rear to each amp, and I have both amps grounded with a screw into the back wall of my cab that I sanded to bare metal, both on the same spot(idk if this is kosher, but it was working). Should be pretty much it, i mean, I know you know how stuff is wired pretty much. It's jsut wierd that it worked for so long with no issues until now. Im thinking/hoping that maybe my screw for my grounds came loose and that is the problem, but idk if that would cause my problem. I would think if both grounds came off, that all my fuses would pop, but im not sure. hope this helps clarify a little atleast

Edit. dumb question, but how would I ground my RCA's? And wouldnt grounding both amps on the same wall cause a ground loop, as in not together on the same screw like now?

Re: Help!

no, grounding the amps in different places would cause a ground loop. and grounding your rca's. run a GROUND wire and plug it in with one of your rca cables, red or white, dont matter but this helped me with the awful noise that came from my subs

Re: Help!

I figured out the problem guys. It was my remote wire touching my grounds. I was hoping it was going to be something simple like this. Any ways, thanks for the pointers before I went and pulled everything apart for something simple like that. Once again, you guys know your stuff
