good 12" woofer
Im getting to sell my 2 10" cvx woofers hoping to get a single 12" that will actually get low. cause they def. dont get low enough for my liking. Im looking for something that is in the $200-300 range.
so if anyone has any opinions let me know. |

ive seen those daytons but have never heard them. something that only needs that much power but still gets nice and low would be sweet. |

Re: good 12" woofer
RE Audio SX ftw man....I had one 12 in my cavalier that could hold a 15 hz sine wave without faltering at all and would hold 1500 watts rms all day. It was in a 2.4 cu.ft. slot ported enclosure tuned to 30 hz. I know I know, shouldn't be playing below the tuning frquency, but hey it's all good
. FI's are nice but a lil pricey for my taste. You'll hear all kinds of stuff though |

Re: good 12" woofer
Seeing that you came from cvxs Im gonna go ahead and reccomend a few more spl oriented drivers.
ficaraudio.com Fi BL 12" Fi Q 12" mach5audio.com Mach 5 SPL12 audioque.com HDC3 12" sonicelectronix.com Kicker L7 12" |

Re: good 12" woofer
he said that he is looking for low end extension over pure SPL this time, most SPL drivers have a very high BL which prevents them from getting the low end extension that the OP is looking for
on that note the fi Q and mach 5 IXL 12 would be good choices as well |

Re: good 12" woofer
jl is overpriced... ive looked at the mach series before. i have around 900 watts to throw at it saying i keep the amp i have currently. the mach subs are quite expensive. so i might go with the fi or audioque. but which would be best for the money

Re: good 12" woofer
the Mach 5 IXL subs arent that expensive at all, they cost less than fi, and most likey audioque
$192 for the IXL you may have been looking at the SPL series subs, they are about $300 |

Re: good 12" woofer
I would pick from this list if you want lows...
Fi q or ssd (about $280 or $210) Mach 5 ixl(about $220 although it cant be wired to 2 ohm) SSA Icon or Dcon(about $310 or $190) DC level 3 or 4(no idea, im not sure where to order them but theyre not crazy expensive) I doubt a single one of these would dissapoint you, and with your power i think the ssd is your best bet all things considered. You're welcome ![]() |

Re: good 12" woofer
psst... you forgot the dayton reference subs, $138 each but they are single 4 ohm, but they will get quite low as well
the dayton titanic mkIII should do a good job as well, but its about 150 IIRC |

yea, but the ones i listed are better
![]() I should have included that they will all get plenty loud as well. I guess an important question as well is what kind of room do you have and will this sub be ported or sealed |

Re: good 12" woofer
Just as a sub overall. Output wise all but the dcon and maybe the lvl3 will beat out daytons and theyre higher quality, and as far as sq its not like were comparing an L7 to a sq sub, they all sound good enough. You get what you pay for ya know?
OP I still vote fi ssd d1 regaurdless of ported or sealed it matches your amp perfectly, will hit nice lows sealed or in a low ported box, and has plenty of output to put kicker to shame ![]() |

Re: good 12" woofer
If you're willing to do a 15, I've got a 15" Dayton Titanic MkIII I can give you a good deal on. Sounds great with huge bottom end, but I'm just tired of having such a big box in the truck. I'd even give you the box for free (2.8cf sealed, built for my ext cab) but shipping would be insane since it weighs probably about 100lbs with the sub in it...

Re: good 12" woofer
If you plan to keep the amp you have now I would do a SSD. The IXL is definitely a nono on that amp bc you will have no where near enough power to be satisfied since youll have to run ~375 watts at 4 ohm. Q and BL are nice but with only 750 watts youll eventually want to feed them more so its really all based on how much you plan/want to spend in the future.

Re: good 12" woofer
Just throwing this out there...the Dayton Quatro is an excellent subwoofer for all around application and does very well at the lows. It's not a power monster and doesn't require much space, but it is still my all time favorite subwoofer.

Re: good 12" woofer
You need to look at more than just Fs to determine how low a subwoofer will play in a car enviroment. If anything, look at the ratio of Fs to Qe/Qts and Vas. Cabin gain begins at ~50 Hz, giving you a 12 dB/octave boost in output. It's not un-common to see a gain of 25 dB at 20 Hz.
Do you have any depth requirements? Weight requirements? I see where you have 3 cubes to work with so that leaves the door open for a lot of subs. I like those Dayton's, but unless you're getting a pair of them I would NOT run them on that ~900 watts you have. If you're looking for around the same bottom end extension /maybe a tad more with little improvement on the sound, the IXL is a good choice. The Q sounds a bit better than the IXL, but it's not a huge improvement. Both drivers will eat up the power though so you won't have to worry about blowing them. |

The Fi Q is their SQ line of drivers. Even though they say they are a SQ oriented driver I still do not consider it a true SQ driver.

Re: good 12" woofer
Because what is better is purely dependent to what the op is wanting to do, and I have heard the w3's in a sealed box built to JLs specs, and I wasnt impressed. I felt like there was too much mechanical noise and it was distracting.
