fosgate t1000bd vs jl 500/1

alright, so i have a 500/1 right now, and what im wondering is, how does the new fosgte power series 1000 watt amp stack up against the jl 500/1 i m wanting to upgrade my amp, and im just making sure with will actually be an upgrade, because i know the 500/1 is not really 500 watts, more like 900-1000. so any opinions? stick with the jl, get a t1000? sell it all and find something different? o yea, and i get them for the same price, so price doesnt matter.

The fosgate WILL make about 1100 rms, with decent voltage.

Re: fosgate t1000bd vs jl 500/1

RF amps are always under rated, i know of 2 2001BD's, they are advertised at 2000watts, but the birth sheets show 1 is 2,5xx and the other is 2,6xx watts. so the 1001BD should be over 1000 watts. my JL pushes 490-510, and also JL uses different type of circuitry than any other company on the market, they can squeeze more usable energy out of 500 watts, same wattage more power, i guess its like 93 octane fuel, u can use it in any car, but if u tune the car for 93 octane, u can get more power. idk how it works, but i read the theory they went off of on some site, i was lost as a easter egg at a halloween party, but its pretty cool. I know when i had a Power 851S, 1 farad cap, my voltage on the cap would drop down to 10.5-11 volts on really low notes, now with the same cap and the JL amp, it NEVER goes lower than 12 volts and it is louder.
just technological advances lol

this sounds to me like AMD vs. Intel. amd has a lower clock speed but is faster than intel. a little OT but same concept

Re: fosgate t1000bd vs jl 500/1

im sure they are 1 ohm stable, if i remember correctly the 2001BD is .5ohm stable. yeah the BD's are, my Power 851S was 1 ohm stable
it depends on how many speakers u have connected and how hard u are running it if it will overheat or shutoff. any amp will overheat or shut off if u are working it to hard.

Re: fosgate t1000bd vs jl 500/1

well it will be powering two dual 4 ohm speakers which will put it down to one ohm, probably turn the amp down a little bit
