A lot of people are going to say that fatmat is a bad product. IMO, its the best bang for the dollar. It is butyl composition, but its thickness is a little thin compared to Raammat or SecondSkin. When I sound deaden my truck, its what I will be using.

As far as installing you will want three things:
A hardwood roller
A good cleaner (I like acetone, and make sure you have gloves)
A sharp box cutter

Remove everything from the truck, vacuum up any loose crap, and then clean the area very well. A typical thing to do when dealing with asphalt is to heat the area of application with a heat gun or a blow dryer. I like to carry this over when dealing with butyl as I feel like it promotes adhesion.

Just take your time, make sure your mating surfaces are clean, and expect it to be a good day or two worth of work.

Re: Fatmat?

Here is a really good site that compares different brands of sound deadener at tests each one.

yea, what he said. To do it right, expect to take most of the weekend to do it. Also, wear gloves because the edges of the stuff can be sharp. I used all second skin products and I'm happy with it, but as long as the product you are using is butyl based you'll be fine. Avoid most asphalt based stuff.. it will melt at fairly low temps. best of luck and post pictures of the end result! =)

Haha, with these 105-110 temp days we have been having in north texas, I imagine asphalt users would be up shit creek without a paddle.

Re: Fatmat?

I have used both Accumat and Fatmat (both butyl based) with great results. The Fatmat was a bit thinner than the Accumat but they were basically the same. The Fatmat had an odor for a couple of days but then it went away.

Re: Fatmat?

I just bought some Fatmat...its a little thinner than Dynamat Xtreme. If anything, just double layer it.

Re: Fatmat?

I used the dynamat xtreme I got 2 36 square feet boxes for 250. I've had no problems with the Dallas heat so far. I have 2 layers on the roof and back wall. Going to put a second layer on the floor and doors.

Single layered, inner and outer door skins, roof, floor, and back extended cab wall....100 sq feet should be pretty close, maybe 120 sqaure feet. Paint Toad could tell you more accurately then I could though.
