Re: Double Din

Pioneer makes a nice entry level dvd, double din, p4000dvd.

If you want something a little more feature rich, see if you can find an Alpine w505. Lots of options out there. Just stay with a trusted name and you should be fine.

Re: Double Din

If you plan on adding multiple amps the Pioneer 4000 and the Kenwood 512 only have two RCA outputs and very low voltage

Re: Double Din

Jensen and Phase Linear (branch of Jensen) arent bad units, if you arent planning to bypass it for DVD playback while driving, then its a PITA. I installed a few of them, and had one on display at my old shop, always had problems with the bypass.

Re: Double Din

I just got my Kenwood 5120 installed today and love. I am still working out all the features.

I wanted a double din, with navi and bluetooth option and ipod control and got it all with this unit. i think the 512 unit is the same without navi so you might want to check into that.

got it on ebay for $600 shipped and i think the 512 unit is 400 ish

I disagree. Ive done at least one dozen units within the past year and havent had a single problem.

For the money, theyre really not bad.

But as most others suggested, Id stay with more of a name brand.

Re: Double Din

most of the newer pioneers need a toggle switch, not just straight ground.

actually no, you can just relay off the remote out so it doesnt see a ground all the time

Re: Double Din

Im a fan of the Pioneer Avic D3 and then new F series ones are pretty sweet too. Nav, DvD (only with the 900), and voice activation ipod. If your wanting to do a full system though like 4 chan and mono block you wont get to good of performance with those. I know jvc makes a single din video unit for about 499 with 3 pair of 5 volt rca pre-outs
