Door Re-Key?

Hey, not sure f this is the right spot for this (I think it is cuz it deals with security, but not sure) so if it isnt Im sorry.

So my truck never came with door keys to lock and unlock it, and the drivers door was replaced, so I doubt the original key would have worked in that door anyhow. Well Im looking to start putting a system in the truck, but I want to get working locks first so I can lock the doors and be a little safer.

My question is would it be easier and cheaper to somehow get new locks, get them re-keyed, or is there something else I can do? I have gone a while now without locking them, I simply just dont put anything of any value in my truck, but this is becoming a problem now and want to star locking my truck up while at work or school. Any and all help would be appreciated. the truck is a 91 S-10 reg cab short box if it matters any.

Re: Door Re-Key?

Just have a locksmith make you a key. You can give them your vin and they can make you one that'll fit. done this with Chevy Fullsize trucks before, dont know about s10's.....It's worth a try

it wasnt painted the door is blue and the rest of the truck is 2-tone lol

And thanks for moving.. heh

My new idea is to just get a key made for the original locks, if it doesnt work in the new door Ill switch the locks from the pass door over to the drivers door, so atleast I can unlock my main door with the key. I might buy replacements later on or get them re keyed or somethign, I dont know 100% yet.
