base modle door speakers?

Sorry if this has been posted here before, but i tried searching and found nothing.
I own a 1997 S10 pickup 2.2L 4cyl. it was originally bought as a base model without any radio or speakers. i have new speakers in the dash and a sub in the back with a 600w amp and today i got my door panels off to see what kind of speaker i need and where the speaker is supposed to go there is a bar that appears to be keeping the door from flexing that blocks the speaker hole and i can not find mounting holes for the speaker, does the speaker mount onto the door panel instead? or could it be that my truck was not made for door speakers? any help is appreciated. thanks alot

if it was made without a radio or speakers, you don't have the speaker pods in the doors. you'll have to build your own or get a set out of a scrap s-10 in the junk yard.

that would be the window track. it's there on all s-10s. get the stock speaker pods that rivet over that hole from a junk truck. it actually looks like you used to have them and someone ripped them out judging by the tape around the hole
