Amp rack
I'm still about a week or two away from doing my amp rack but I'm looking for some ideas for the back of my 96 Blazer. I still need to be able to haul luggage etc. I was thinking about do a false floor. Anyone ever do one of these in the back of their Blazer?

Re: Amp rack
as soon as i get a new engine i plan on doing a false floor in my 96 jimmy (blazer for all intents and purposes) for exactly those reasons.
i'm about a month away from that |

Re: Amp rack
What does your engine have to do with building a false floor?! Slacker.

Re: Amp rack
engine is dead so the jimmy is at my parents' house in the back yard. my apartment's managing company likes to tow vehicles that don't move after a couple weeks. my parents live an hour away from me...so it's hard to build a false floor from an hour away. and it's also hard to transport my table saw on the back of the bike over to their house.
plus, i can't really listen to my music with a dead engine (and a drained battery that i'll probably just replace). |

Re: Amp rack
To keep cargo space, false floor like stated, or build a custom rack on the side behind the wheel well if there is space. You could also build a custom box on the other side.
I have also seen amps custom flush mounted in the tailgate also. |

Re: Amp rack
I would say shoot for mounting on the tailgait. I have only seen this a few times and it always looks so clean when done right

Re: Amp rack
Just build up the floor of the truck the depth that you need for speakers. build your box in this area, make an amp rack with it. and then make a trim panel to go along the contour of the sides and front and back. If you dont have any subs i would look into a shallow mount sub, JL make a nice one.
