so i currently have 3 alpine type r 12's.....running off of an hk401sx. and i was wondering if 3 kicker cvx 12's would be any louder or sound better if any at all. what would the pros and cons be of switching

come on, dont go bashing kicker like that. they make realy crappy subs. but i'm a fan of their amps. id take my amp over any alpine amp.

but for subs, kicker<alpine keep the type r's.

Re: alpine vs kicker

Kicker's are like farting in a fan, all choppy. I'm probably going to grenade my Kickers after I get my two Type R's

Re: alpine vs kicker

kicker power is alright, but there is cleaner power out there. but i will admit, bang for the buck, kicker has a decent amp line-up

Re: alpine vs kicker

oh my bad...i'm sorry. i thought i saw a photo of your setup and it looked like a fairly small box. I ASSumed it was sealed. in that case i don't think the kickers would be louder at all. but you should still sell me one... lol

Uhhh, Alpine's sound processing has always been, and will always be, better then kickers. Granted, Kicker can produce amps that have way more output, Alpines signal is almost always cleaner then Kickers.

kicker sucks....

i'd buy sony before i would accept anything from kicker for free

the only people that buy kicker are those that can't afford real stereo products

Re: alpine vs kicker

I liked their older amps. The black ones and the Impulse amps. Everyone talked so highly about the Kicker competition subs, well I bought 4 back in the day, 2 were done after a month. Never again. Their amps seem to do power but when you see so many refurbs and broken ones for sale it kinda makes me uneasy. I wont buy any.

Re: alpine vs kicker

well i'm gonna go with my opinion and say joe is just trying to prove a point and say that alpine has better quality proudcts than kicker. but no one can honestly say that he would rather to buy and use a sony amp than take my amp for free. and for joe saying that kicker is for people who cant afford real stereo products, i could have went cheaper and bought a jl 1000/1, but i didnt.

never had an Alpine fail on me, or a Kicker, but the new pdx alpines are pretty badass. If I had my choice I wouldnt buy either though. There are much better out there for less money
