Adding an amp, no subs...
I'm looking into getting an amp here very soon and was wondering what recommendations folks might be able to give me.
Currently I just have the 6" Alpine Type Rs in my door and Pioneers behind the seats. I'm not looking into getting subs, at least not now, so I doubt that will be a concern. Would like to go with an Alpine amp, but I am up for good suggestions. More than anything I'd just like to know the specs that I should be looking for, i.e. channels, watts, etc. Thanks in advance. |

What are you trying to amp? The alpine's in your door, the pioneers behind your seats, both, or what? We can't say what you should get without knowing what you're trying to power. Also, we'll need the specs on the speakers you're trying to power, or at least the model number so we can look it up.

I wouldn't mind the amp powering both sets of speakers, but the alpine's are the main focus.
I believe the Alpine number is SPR-17S, or at least I think those are the ones that fit in the door of the S-10. Pioneers are TS - A4103 I think. |

Re: Adding an amp, no subs...
i would say go w/ a 4 channel amp, something around 300-500 watts, nothing spectacular. that way if you decide to run the speakers behind your seat, or if you have some in the dash, you can hook them up along w/ the doors.
something along the lines of these http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...duct_ID=37 30 http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...duct_ID=37 29 http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...duct_ID=62 50 Last edited by stalephotograph : 09-01-2008 at 09:58 AM. |

Thanks, that looks pretty good to me.
Should even the 300 watt power at least those front speakers plenty well? Thanks again. |

Re: Adding an amp, no subs...
300w for the front speakers will be plenty enough. just make sure you set your gains and everything correctly so you dont distort them or send a clipping signal.
