4th order bandpass in the bed....4 12's
Well, i finally got the guts, and the money, to finally build a 4th order bandpass box in the bed of my truck. I just started on it the other nite, so far this is what i got. Still got LOTS of finishing and other little touches to do to it but its a start... o, btw, only the 2 top ports are actually ports...
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And here are the subs, All new RE Audio SEx 12's. Hopefully four is enough ![]() ![]() ![]()

efficiency for the most part... and the fact that it carries a good passband.

Re: 4th order bandpass in the bed....4 12's
I had a 4th order bp passthrough in my reg cab with two Fosgate P3 12's. Even with a small amp, 200watts, it jammed really hard. I only had the two 6" ports blowing through the cab wall too. Can't imagine what 4 12's with those two huge ports is gonna do.

Re: 4th order bandpass in the bed....4 12's
i think alot of it has to do with the fact that the box tuning changes when u load it in something like a standard cab. every little thing will affect the way a bandpass box sounds and the way it presents load on the woofer(s). its a ported box within a ported box when its blown thru a cab-more or less.... or summin like that lol....

Re: 4th order bandpass in the bed....4 12's
looking good. Keep up with the pictures.
There is nothing wrong with a bandpass enclosure, just so long as it is properly designed and built for the drivers that are being used. Great sound quality can be achieved. |

Re: 4th order bandpass in the bed....4 12's
also i heard that blwothroughs will make the tuning of ur box lower if the port is to far away from the cab openeing...sorry dont mean to jack ya thread. lol

Re: 4th order bandpass in the bed....4 12's
thanks! yea, i'm not worried bout anything getting stolen. the box will be bolted down and it will take 3 people to lift it out anyways lol plus i got a tonno to keep things "under wraps".

Re: 4th order bandpass in the bed....4 12's
the port actually will protrude into the cab about 2 inches roughly so that shouldn't be a problem... the only thing that worries me is the fact that i'm cuttin a big-damn hole in my cab lmao

if youre going through all that effort why not build a 6th order bandpass to extend your frequency range and flatten your response?

I thought you said you built the box so there would be some room by the tail gate? I hate to tell you, but I think your box ate your tail gate!!
Looks awsome!! |

It felt pretty good @ 148db @ 32hz with the windows sealed.... but i ran out of alternator and battery so i just gave up till i can get it all fixed up.....
