Re: Some Interior Paint

The shifter is from billet specialties, it won't mount up with out some modification,...the overlays for the HVAC are from Billet and Acrylic, the HVAC knobs are from Billetin, the steering wheel is from Billet Specialties, the dash speaker grills, the defrost vent, and the door speaker grills are from Kaik Products, the tweed is from Select Products, the seats are from a pontiac sunfire, the billet thing under my mirror is a 1" Alphasonik tweeter, I thinks that about everything

Thanks man,..yeah, I'm getin the orange club sticker for the back window, my plan is to do a 2 tone with the orange above and either black or a medium silver metalic below, that should tie it all in nicely

Re: Some Interior Paint

when you paint stuff like interior parts you put stuff in the paint called "flex" that way it doesn't crack, i'm sure this guy being a professionall painter did so. Looks awesome man

keep us updated on how it lasts... I wanna do a lot of painting on my interior, but I dunno how good it'll hold up on the foam-type stuff....

Gonna be a PITA trying not to scratch it up too... but man does it look killer!

Re: Some Interior Paint

I have some info on the dash, my paint guy is a paint products distributer, so he has access to chemists who studies paint products and their properties, they said there really isn't a good way to paint something soft like a dash or an armrest, and since flex additive can screw up the color of certain paint, plus the fact that it only works for a very short time, and not permanantly, like most peope think, no flex was used, what they did do, is choose the products that have the most flexiblity from a chemical stand point, in other words, everything from the primer to the clear coat was hand picked for it's ability to flex and recover from expansion and contraction, it should be ok, but yeah, I'll keep you guys post as to how it holds up.

Well I met Brian yesterday at Taco Johns for some grub, he had the ride out in the sun so I decided to snap some pics.......all I can say is that any of the pics that have been posted in thread cannot do it justice, this color is something that you must see in person !

Notice how it flops yellow in the sun at just the right angle ! ! !

Re: Some Interior Paint

My console has 3 nuts holding it on, they're all 10mm, there's one under the tray in the front and 2 located toward the back, you have to pull out the 2 storage trays to see them, the 2 back one require a fairly long extension to get to

Re: Some Interior Paint

Paints holding up well, I don't think there is an average cost, get a few estimates from body shops in you area, I will say this though, if it's a quality job, it's probably not going to be cheap

Re: Some Interior Paint

Thanks guys!,....This (below) is a pretty complete list of the billet, I still have a billet dash grab handle ("The Tooth Chipper") comming from Kaik products, and the painted cluster is getting replaced with a stock cluster bezel/polished overlay (I haven't been able to find Plexi thin enough to make a clear lense for it), I'm getting Trenz Bar billet pedels in the near future, I'm making tweeded covers for the map pockets, the headliner will be tweeded, and I have a mustang dome light to install,..so I still have a long list of things to do before I can call it done

Brian and I spoke once about doing a couple billet plates ball milled in the console where the tweed is now covering the cd storage and coion holder ?

Yeah, my original plan was to have billet covers made or make them myself, for the cd holder, the change dispenser, the console tray and the map pockets, all ball milled, in fact, I still plan to, but that's down the road a ways, costs a lot o coin to have one off stuff made, so I'll probably have to make it myself, and I just don't have time right now, maybe this fall/winter, also, I have plans to make a billet plate for the air bag switch, and the stereo head unit filler plate (din and a half down to a single din) for when I get the alpine 310, I already have the air bag switch cover designed in A-cad

Thanks Scott,...I may be sending pics in to Mini-Truckin', Sport Truck and Street Trucks some time this spring with the hope that the color combo could used for something halloween related in the fall,...so long as before then, I don't get car-jacked by a crazed Baltimore Orioles fan

there's a small external torx screw holding it, it's on the same side as the ignition, you have to have the bottom half of the clam shell loose to be able to get to it, the head is facing downward, the bottom half won't come off until the tilt lever is removed, you can remove the tilt lever after the turn signal assembly is loosened, which you need to do to be able to completly remove the top half, it's a tricky process if you've never done it, it's like some kind of strange puzzle
