Re: Restyling the interior/door panels!
First thing, the truck. I like the color theme/contrast, however next time put in the time on the prep work and do it right the first time, especially if you're going to use rattle.
General practice is: 1.) Clean 2.) Sand (180+ grit) 3.) Primer 4.) Sand (320+ grit) 5.) Paint 6.) Fine Sand / Fine wet sand (1500+ grit) 7.) Clear coat 8.) Fine wet sand ( 2000+ grit) 9.) Rubbing compound Keep in mind that most people do multiple coats of these. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Next, the kidz who are bashing the guy.... People do everything because it's what they think looks good. I'm redoing my interior with a black base and red accents. I'm not going to just do half of it, and leave the rest stock grey because I think it would like crap, but if that's what you want to do more power to you. Either way get off your high horse, and realize that modding your vehicle is all about expression, and sure as hell not what you dictate my truck should look like. Give the guy a break and offer up some solid advice, instead of just being an ass. -Rob |

Re: Restyling the interior/door panels!
i dont give anyone a bad rep..its everyone to there own opinion...i could say i hate the color green and someone has the truck that color and say ugh he just gave me a bad rep...lol so i dont want to hear shit about a bad rep..the led washers dont light up there just chrome...i never said they were someone just assumed they were and i never got around to buyin regular black washers and doesnt draw any attention then people who just like to nick pick at everything, it isnt a show truck its a daily driver that i jsut like to mess with in my spare time if i watned a show vehicle it wouldnt be a s10.. and this thread is somewhat old and alot of stuff is gone, the xtreme labeling, and the speaker or vent grills are white to contrast with black which the rest of the interior is now i happen to like black and the white! and the front bumper was for a turbo project not for looks as ive mentioned i dont know how many times now!! as u can see in this picture here!! ![]() u can hate all u want but its my truck and i happen to get alot of good responses so i dont care!! plus this things gonna be pretty quick when im all done!! bwahahaha!! and for the last post i did do the wet sanding and stuff...it came out just fine! and still is!! |

Re: Restyling the interior/door panels!
do not tell people to wet sand basecoat before clearcoat if it's a metallic or pearl then you just ****ed up the color before you clearcoated it and the only way to fix it is to redo it. |

Re: Restyling the interior/door panels!
I'm all for solid advice, especially when coming from someone with more experience than me when it comes to bodywork. Thanks for the correction.
The latter point to my post was completely with regard to constructive criticism, instead of just telling someone they did a shitty job because it doesn't match with whoever's aesthetic preferences. Can you post the proper order as it appears I messed them up. Thanks, -Rob |

Re: Restyling the interior/door panels!
Im guessing you have a system in your truck.
This is what I did with my door panels. After I installed factory power windows....I was left with an empty hole for the window crank. Perfect spot for tweeters. And I cut out the speaker grill and epoxied a nice metal grill in there to match the tweeter. It matches better in person than the pic. And then I just replaced the material up top with tweed. I kept it simple. ![]() |

Re: Restyling the interior/door panels!
Holy smokes!!!
I havnt been on this forum for a while but I sure as hell wouldnt post anything on here!!! Ive never been on a forum where people bash so much! You'd think a bunch of mini truckers would show a little universal respect to each other! So what if he has different taste. Just scrolling down through this thread is enough to keep people off this forum!!!Geez guys. Dont just come in bash n dash. Leave an example of your work, tips, pointers, or your KIND opinion. Just a thought for the next time you make a post!!! Thats just my two cents on this thread!!! |

You've got a pretty clean xtreme, i like it.
Fvck what everyone else says. if they dont' like how you style your shit, they can buy their own truck, and do it up however they like. diggit? |

Re: Restyling the interior/door panels!
Just curious why you put the tweeter there? Do you have a pic of the tweeter when the doors closed? I would think it would run into the dash but can't tell. Looks like your missing those plastic washers that go on the window crank too
![]() Any updates on the interior? Post some pics |

Re: Restyling the interior/door panels!
i agree if your going to do it take the time and do it right the first time plus you could easliy lose your truck that way due to a electrical fire ive seen it happen to a friends truck |
