sanding process
![]() fuse panel pics before i wetsanded/polished ![]() ![]() door cups (havent wetsanded clear really needs it though hopefully i can get some pictures in day time when its bright) ![]() ![]() vents.... they are finished but havent took pictures ( be careful not to spray really thin layers on these b/c they are so easy to spray thick which will make them more prone to chipping, i sprayed thick accidently trying to cover cornors) ![]() |

Re: {ProJeCt} Jeff's Interior... PICS (56k Warning)
yeah silver//glossy black on black/chrome truck..... the doors are going to be bottom black, middle silver (doorcup and below) wrapped with silver leather, then the very top going to be black... right now working on just highlights, the ac vents are going to be black in front(horizontal) and silver behind(vertical) and yes they do come apart very easy... thx for looking and comments

Re: {ProJeCt} Jeff's Interior... PICS (56k Warning)
cant wait to get some daytime interior pics with the sun out, its really glossy but my camera's flash is just too bright IMO plus it flashed like 6 times and just ruins the whole glossy affect

Re: {ProJeCt} Jeff's Interior... PICS (56k Warning)
idk, isnt dbprecisions rapped in leather??? Prob could order some like for the mustangs its real close to silver its more of a bright grey...... 120, 180,220, prime 220, prime 220, (until you think its built up enough some only take once or twice some take 4 or 5) wetsand primer with 600 g, if imperfections re build up if not 3 layers of paint if your not using mettalic (i am) wetsand with 6 or 800 inbetween coats (always let dry for atleast 12 hours before wetsanding.....) then clear coat shot it 5 times waited 2 days then 1500 wetsand, poslishing compound, kits scratch remover (helps alot), cleaner wax, wax (i use meguiars)
Dupli color high build primer Dupli color t191 ultra silver dupli color top coat.... yes its rattle can i do not have access to a spray gun or i would use a gun.... when using rattle can get the kind that has the SPRAY nozel that makes it spread out when it sprays, and do really thin coats since rattle can chips so ez.... |

Re: {ProJeCt} Jeff's Interior... PICS (56k Warning)
looks like orange peel (sometimes) but when you look at it good its just the flakes, its only on my door cups so maybe i just glance at it and think i see something lol.... (EDIT)

Re: {ProJeCt} Jeff's Interior... PICS (56k Warning)
I just took up this project on my 1st gen door panels in combination with another vinyl project. It will be nice to see my finished gloss black against my yellow vinyl
I will post an update now and then. I am not using a spray gun. Instead I am going to use rattle cans. I started off using 80 grit with my mouse sander, but didn't press too hard, just to get some of the deeper scratches out. I then proceeded to the 120 grit. The mouse sander rocks!!! The new one I got came with detailing attachments to get into those tough corners that are even a pain for sandpaper ![]() My shopping list I had today from Walmart and Menards: - Mouse Sander (this baby rocks!!) - Extra 220 Grit paper for after the clearcoats - Multiple cans of Auto Rustolem Primer - Short Strand Bondo & spreaders (to fill in the depressions) - Rubber Gloves & Mask - Bulldog plastic adhesion promoter - NuFinish Wax - Polishing Compound - Scratch Out - ***Waited on the paint, still unsure if I wanna go gunmetal, metallic flake, or just plan gloss black to match my interior metal paint*** - (Grip clamps, a few bottles of Contact Cement, and 1/4" Hardboard, Super 77, (already have the yellow vinyl for when I did my roof last year)) for the other part of my project - Filters and oil for my truck ![]() Overall, a pretty cheap project for my truck (~$135), which included about 60$ in tools ![]() Ohhh yeah, and I totally wouldn't have even attempted this crazy of a project had it not been for your post Thanks!Last edited by 2VipeRS : 06-04-2007 at 01:23 AM. |
