Need Opinion

ok so im planning on smoothing my interior and making in black but i recently had the idea to make the whole ext cab panels, headliner, and a-pillars in black velvet instead of smoothing them. That i am doing for sure but my buddy suggested to do the dash in velvet too. Just the dash not the bezel, speaker grilles, vents, or anything else. the vents and speaker grilles will be chrome and possibly the bezel.

Give my your honest opinion since i know you all love to do that.

Re: Need Opinion

I had black velvet interior in my truck before and it did look really good for a while. But, after time in the sun the black began to fade into a purpleish color and didn't look right at all . I personally don't recommend black velvet for a daily driver(my 2 cents).

Re: Need Opinion

i rock the painted dash with velvet accents! i wouldnt use the velvet on the dash but below the door handles and in the back then do a headliner with a raised graphic

Re: Need Opinion

honestly... i wouldnt go with the velvet on the dash.
thats what i wanted to do as well, i ended up wrapping it in black fleece.
i did the dash, doors and pillar, didnt get to the rest of it but now i noticed the dash has faded a lot. im ripping it all out this weekend to fiberglass and paint instead.

if you really want to do the velvet you can get away with the rest of the truck, but the dash wouldnt be a good idea.
the only way i would suggest doing it would be if you were going to put a dash cover over it while driving it, and take the cover off for shows.

maybe you could paint the whole dash one color and do everything else in velvet.

heres what i used (black as well)
doors:

the dash before i had it all back together:

Re: Need Opinion

well i did a bulk buy on black velvet cause my buddy needed some so now i got a whole bunch for a low price so i think for now ill do everythin in velvet but maybe the dash bezel in red or maybe gray. the main reason for velveting the whole thing is im on a tight schedule with no time to be smoothing the interior and i really want it done in time for the show in indy. i will be posting pics when i am done and right now im about 25% done. i got the billet defrost vent and speaker grilles going in as soon as its done.

I dont care if you dont like it personally but i cant decide on what color to do the bezel so the input would be nice.

Re: Need Opinion

all that really matters is what you like.

for the painted parts, i think white would look nice with black velvet.
if your truck is any other color but black, any metallic paint the same color as your truck would look nice as well.
if it is black i guess you can choose any color you want.
