I don't think cavalier headrests are removable... just sunfires are. Sunfires have the typical pontiac headrests

Re: How to install Cavalier/Sunfire seats

He man awesome write up. I just picked up a seat from the local junkyard for 75 for the pair and it took me about 3 hrs to do. They look great and are about 5" shorter than the stocker. Couldn't have done it or even thought of it with out your help.

no problems, but you wont have the brackets to do it.
so you gotta find some s10 seat bracket(sliders) for the 60/40 or the buckets, and bolt the cavy seats to that.drill holes in the floor and mount the tracks.

I have a 2000 noma with 60/40 front seats in an extended cab. I turned the drivers side seat into a bucket seat pretty easily. Looks great and u cant even tell it was modified. Anyone want photos or any help let me know.

Re: How to install Cavalier/Sunfire seats

Anyone who has cavy seats or sunfire seats in their truck, could you give me a rough guess as to how much space is between the two seats? Cause this summer I wanna pick up a pair and build a center console. Just want to know some rough dimensions and if my idea is gonna work. Thanks alot guys!!

Question Re: How to install Cavalier/Sunfire seats

How in the world do you detach the star bolt on the inner rear of the passenger seat bracket holding it to the floor? Is there a nut under the truck you have to turn or something? I even took a breaker bar to it and nothing. Im thinking of drilling through it and installing a new bolt.

heat it from the bottom and large breaker bar and a shitton of force... if it still doesnt budge, like mine, get a hefty drill and replace with another.

when I put buckets in my 83,all I did was get buckets from a 95 grand am and changed the seat tracks to that of a blazer.worked perfectly,no drilling required, but than again,I was switching from bench to bucket

Re: How to install Cavalier/Sunfire seats

So what's the deal with the cavi/sunfire seats? Is it because they look better or are they comfortable too? Just curious, I like how those 04 cavis look.

Re: How to install Cavalier/Sunfire seats

i have 04 cavi's without the headrests, seriously the most comfortable seats ive ever sat on, im not a big boy, but they fit me great, never had any pain in my cheeks, their firm, but not rock hard and not so soft you sink in and need to be pulled out of your seats.

plus they look great

about the gap between seats, id say 5 inches or so, i have a console thats 1/2"? mdf that holds my amp, and it fits snug as a bug

Re: How to install Cavalier/Sunfire seats

so wait do u have to drill hole ONLY for a bench seat? i had a 60/40 split seat in my dime, and i put camaro buckets in they bolt right up...they were out of a 94 camaro....but i just picked up cavis so i wanna chop the headrests...so do the 60/40 split brackets bolt rite up or what? most stock gm seats do so im guessing its the same with cavis?

Re: How to install Cavalier/Sunfire seats

just for anyones knowledge the brackets bolt rite into the sunfire seats...and idk about a bench cuz i have 60/40 brackets...

so verdict is for a sunfire bucket, 60/40 s10 seat rails are a direct bolt up...that makes the sunfire, camaro and cavi direct bolt ups so far...i think it has something to do with them being stock gm seats...but hell idk lol i just know mine fit and i love em!! very comfy and sick without headrests

Re: How to install Cavalier/Sunfire seats

if you have the bench, you gotta get bucket/60/40 brackets.
have you taken it all apart? as in separated the seat and the brackets?
once you do that i should be pretty clear

if you got the brackets out of a first gen blazer, they should mount right up, you might have to adjust the sliders some, but the bolt holes are space perfectly

Re: How to install Cavalier/Sunfire seats

this is a long time consuming mod
first off.. getting the rails off the s10 seats
suchhhhh a pain. first one took probably 2 hours
2nd about 1 and several bolts had to be drilled out because they were stripped.
only do this if you have the time to put into it
