Re: Custom dashes... Post Up Pics!

yeah, just sanded down, primed with a flex primer and painted. the doorpanels were sanded smooth, primed with 2k primer and sanded smooth. the interior is already getting re-done. we decided to run the 2-tone that's going on the outside of the truck through the inside of the truck as well. just got to finish the bodywork on the bed and its ready for paint.

Re: Custom dashes... Post Up Pics!

I plan on getting a Dash and making a project out of a dash sand prime nad paint but what i really wana do is put the 98 plus dash in the 97 wich i know is a direct bolt in
but then comes the trouble of the dash cluster
the guage cluster will my 97 bolt into the 98 dash or am i going to be screwed unless i try to cut it like i have seen somone do and rewire it all into a newer 98 plus cluster ?

Re: Custom dashes... Post Up Pics!

^^Neat!^^

Are you gonna use a dash insert from a '94 to match the steering column, or mod yours?

Re: Custom dashes... Post Up Pics!

Not too sure I followed you on that one sorry man. I am assuming you are referring to the piece that goes under the steering column. I am going to be using that as well, it actually fits pretty well even after I sections the lower left corner a bit. It just needs to be extended a tiny bit at the top left corner. I am thinking about shaving the lower vents (under the steering column and glovebox)

I am going to be shaving the defroster vent. I would mold in the speaker grills but they need to be removeable to get the speakers out and the dash out. Also the glovebox will remain functioning since it needs to be removed to get to the bracket behind it for the dash as well. Pretty much going for a clean smooth look similar to this.

I was referring to the dash bezel, 94 models are fitted for your style of column (round), you currently have a 95-97 model (squared off around the column).

Well like I said, props on a cleanass first gen dash, I know the feelin looking for a non cracked first gen dash, me and my buddy went to every junk yard within prolly 2 hours in any direction, we finally found one in some ghettoass junkyard near charleston wv that wasnt cracked, we got the thing out and out it in his truck, payed the man (I think he paid 100 for it, and couple other little dodads) and away we went... Only problem was, his tool box got loose in his bed, and busted that bastard all to hell, he just decided to deal with a crack...haha... I felt so bad for him, but all I could do was laugh my ass off, by the time gas was figured in, he prolly had hundreds invested in that thing, and a old ass bungie cord ruined it all!

Re: Custom dashes... Post Up Pics!

So any other updates here?...Im looking to finally start my dash project in a few weeks...I have a pretty set idea on what to do...but im open for other ideas.

Im gonna try my hand at glassing some spots for my 5.25" Components and then wrap the majority of it in tweed with the rest smoothed...Kind of difficult to explain in a few sentences...
