Re: Convert Your Cluster & Control lights to LED's How-to!
Do the turn signal and high beam indicators use T1.5 with twist locks or just #74's????????!

Re: Convert Your Cluster & Control lights to LED's How-to!
The T1.5 Bulbs are #74's but they already have the twist lock seating on the bulbs. So essentially the T1.5 is just a #74 With the twist lock already on it. And yes the turn and high indicator use the T1.5 bulbs. the HVAC unit uses #74 |

Re: Convert Your Cluster & Control lights to LED's How-to!
I just did this to my truck, it looks pretty good
instead of reinstalling the cluster to find out which leds i put in wrong, i found a wiring diagram and i used a 9v battery and jumper wires. This is only for 95-97 models ![]() ![]() ![]() I figure it would be easier to test it on the bench than have to install it and uninstall it again. especially if its dark and cold outside |

Re: Convert Your Cluster & Control lights to LED's How-to!
Then I took all the needles off and used a knife to scrape the yellow shit off of the back of each one then i found a bottle of white paint and brushed the white onto the back of each one, let it dry Turned the truck on, let it warm up, and reinstalled the needles to where they were before. |

Re: Convert Your Cluster & Control lights to LED's How-to!
does anyone have any idea what kind of signal comes to the cluster for the speed?
I'm thinking that it's either digital (pulses of a certain voltage) OR it's analog and a low voltage means a low speed, and high voltage means a high speed. |

Re: Convert Your Cluster & Control lights to LED's How-to!
Shouldn't really matter actually all the clusters are the same if your equiped with a 5-Speed your cars computer will tell your cluster to turn on the shift light if it's redlining and so fourth.. all the bulbs will change out with LED's.

Re: Convert Your Cluster & Control lights to LED's How-to!
The reason I ask is I want to find out a way to advance the mileage...kinda off topic but maybe someone that sees this might have an idea what kind of signal goes to the speedometer. I went to the dealer, and they said they can't match it unless i order one from them, and their company they order from will build the mileage to match

Re: Convert Your Cluster & Control lights to LED's How-to!
If I'm correct your cars computer stores that info... we don't have an analog style rolling mileage counter.. ours are digital.. it gets a signal from the cars computer where the information is stored..

Re: Convert Your Cluster & Control lights to LED's How-to!
Dunno if it's the weather or the subs in my truck.. I've got about 3 to 4 lights that have issues.. 2 are burned out completely and 2 are on there way out. So my advice would be to get the single WIDE angle type bulb.. I bought the 5 or 6 LED cluster and they've been flickering and then going out.. I've got single WIDE angle LED's in my tails and have had them in there for over 8 months and have NOT burned out.. so that's the way I'm going to go. I just thought I would share this with everyone.
