Cavalier Seats

Well I found a good deal on some Cavi seats from my autoshop's GM donor car, Z24 Cavalier, had 90 miles and blew the tranny, some dumbass broke the key cylinder with a screwdriver and my teacher decided just to part it out, scored the center console and mint seats for $150 They feel like racing seats, I need a bunch of heavy people to come break them in for me lol.

Pics of the seats, working on smoothing the console right now.

Take the headrests off? Or leave them on?

Re: Cavalier Seats

first off dammit. i thought i was the only one with those cool red ones. and $150. i paid $80 for my pair. and ditch the headrests. don't ask me how to get em off. when i was taking my seats out i told my buddy i would buy him dinner if he got them off. 5 minutes later and some curse words a head rest hit me in the back of the head. i was like good get the other one off. i love mine. it look sweet when you look through the truck and nothing is sticking up. looks real clean.

Big Bake, damn you I thought I was the only one with them! They are comfy as hell and look amazing, I get them because they matched my truck.

well they don't match mine, but i didn't want the run of the mill dark grey color. i saw these in the car and was like wtf? is this some kind of special edition? either way they are really comfortable. get rid of the headrests too. it will piss any of your friends off if they try and put there head back and nothing is there. it's alway a good laugh for me. did you have any luck getting those torx bolts out? i had to cut mine.

Re: Cavalier Seats

Yeah I went under the truck with a propane hand held torch, and my dad used an impact to get them out. That Craftsman T-50 socket took a hell of a beating. We also were able to reuse the bolts because they weren't beat up too bad.

If anyone tries to do what me and my dad did with there truck, make sure you wear safety glasses, gloves, and a long sleeved shirt. Rocks were flung out of the heat shield, and left welts all over my arms.

Re: Cavalier Seats

yeah heat was the other option and i didn't have a helping hand. i just drilled it out and then put in grade 8 bolts. btw its a T47, not a T50. someone on here mentioned it was an odd size. so did you get those headrests off yet?

Re: Cavalier Seats

yeah the rear ones toward the center. they hold the seat belt, that's why they are torx.

Re: Cavalier Seats

I used a T-50 on my selt belt latches.

$150 is a little steep to me, I paid $100 for power leather seats and a console.

Re: Cavalier Seats

Haha I picked up my seats for $14... Half off sale at the junkyard + military discount! Gotta love it! But yeah I actually took the headrests off of mine and then ended up putting them back on after hitting my head on the back window a few times. If I had an ext cab I would probably ditch them though.

Re: Cavalier Seats

Holy crap, I never heard of a junkyard having sales or discounts! Well, one here gives me good deals because I frequent, but that's about it.

Re: Cavalier Seats

Yeah I love Pick & Pull! They are dirt cheap to start with and they do sales and discounts... Engines and Transmissions $100 every day doesn't matter what it's from... rear axles are like $50... seats are usually $20 each... doesn't matter if they are leather caddy seats or geo metro seats all of their prices are flat rate.

At one time they had an all you can carry sale... it was like $40 per person for all the parts you could physically carry. There were some big guys out there strapping engines and transmissions together with seatbelts and throwing them on their shoulders. It was pretty entertaining to watch.

I will next week when I get the supplies to build my box. Or you can just paypal me $40 so I can get some MDF right now

I'm still undecided on the headrests. Hell, I'm still unsure what fabric would match the seats best for my headliner, sub box, door panels and window visors.

Yeah you don't need any bolts from the Cavi seats, just use the bolts on your S10's/Blazer's floor. And re-use the nuts you took off from your stock seats.

I sell my buddies 3/4x4x8 MDF from work for $5 a sheet. I look for ones with damaged corners or dings, and I'll pull them from the stack and sell them for a damaged price
