A couple quick questions about smoothing interior panels
Ok the first question I have is does anyone use any sort of power tools to help speed the process of smoothing out panels, and if so what tools would they be? The second question is, has anyone tried smooth a dash with the foam mat under it, and if so was the process the the same as any other panel, and how did it turn out?

Re: A couple quick questions about smoothing interior panels
yea man when i painted my interior i used power tools like orbital sanders (vibrating sanders) for the bigger flat pieces and did everything by hand for the small contoured pieces. its all in the prep so take your time and do it right

Re: A couple quick questions about smoothing interior panels
Lots of people do the dashboards. Just make sure its suffed really well.. Ive done a few Painted dashes with no texture and they turned out great. Just sanded the dash with 150-220. Then high build primer. You can take most of the texture out as its not hard because they arent deep lines.
Same as SSDime. Use a DA sander and some 220-320 till most of the texture is gone then go a little finer and prime prime prime. |
