2001 rearview mirror
Does anyone have the factory measurements for placement of the rearview mirror that mounts to the windshield? Not sure who tried to re-glue it on, but they glued it to far over towards the passenger side, and now the passenger side sunshade won't go down without hitting the mirror.
Also, does anyone know if you can break it free without breaking or cracking the windshield? I have never tried on one that was recently glued. Luke |

Re: 2001 rearview mirror
You should be able to just pull down a little and it will probably break off without damaging the windshield. I've accidentally broken mine off 3 times, once while adjusting it. You might be able to adjust the base of it and get it far enough to the driver side, but you have to adjust it without it being attached to the window, that pivot area is tight and hard to move usually, thats why I broke mine off the window once.

Re: 2001 rearview mirror
yea, there is a little grub screw that holds the rearview mirror to the mount thats glued to the windshield. once you get that off you can use some plyers and just turn it back and forth until it pops off. on the windshield at the top you may see alittle arrow looking point, thats center of the windshield, just drop it down to the height u like and reglue it in place. also you will want to scuff the windshield and the mount so the glue adhears better to both.

Re: 2001 rearview mirror
On my windshield I have a tiny little black dot that shows where it goes. If I remember correctly its dead center...right at the bottom of the Factory tinting...
None of the aftermarket mirror holders stayed on for me though...after having them break/fall off so many times I gave up and ditched the mirror. Best idea ever if I must say. No more blind spots across the windshield... |

Re: 2001 rearview mirror
Some rearview mirrors have the set screw, some use a piece of metal thats bent in the shape of a U with little tabs to dig into the mount.

Re: 2001 rearview mirror
To go with taking it off...I have a '98 so it may be different. There were no screws or anything...it just slid up towards the headliner. Then take a utility knife and gently pry away at the glued piece...it works best to go around a few times before taking it all the way off...

Re: 2001 rearview mirror
My mirror may have been a universal aftermarket one then...The guy I bought it from hacked a lot of stuff...Looked like he went on a shopping spree at pepboys and charge me an extra 1000 dollars...haha
