Will this set up work?

Hey guys, Just pondering lifting up my 2wd 4.3 TBI (94)
So, I'm looking at a 3.5" spindle up front with a 2 inch coil spring (I heard that is the max you can do without worrying about ball joints etc.)
Out back, just a flip kit.
and, a 2 inch or 3 inch body lift.
I won't do any heavy off roading, it will be the occasional field romp, and some trails for hunting purposes.
Any suggestions are welcome!

Re: Will this set up work?

That setup will work perfectly, i have about the same setup on my truck without the springs, 94 Sonoma, and you will prolly be able to run 31's or 32's on that thing after the lift. Good luck, itll look sweet!

There are no good reasons to lift a 2wd

Re: Will this set up work?

Actually-- 1fast4by, there is a good reason for lifting a 2wd truck, really a couple of reasons.. 1- if you already own a 2wd truck its alot cheaper than lifting a 4x4 and 2- Lifted 2wd trucks look nice and are wayyyyy better on gas than a 4x4..

I am planning on lifting my 91 2wd in the same way, 3.5" spindles, 3" body lift and flipping the rear axle. If you flip the rear axle, cdnrednk, the ass end will be higher by probably about 1-2"..

I would be careful with the springs along with the spindles though, from what ive read even the 2" springs are hard on the balljoints unless you use the upper control arms..

Anyway, good luck with it and you will have a sweet looking rig when you are finished..

Re: Will this set up work?

thanks ninja for stickin up for me!
Sure, I could have a 4x4, and all the extra weight and costs with it. When honestly, I'll only ever have it in mud as deep as the axles anyways and I'll be able to push through it. Its mainly for the ground clearance... and looks.
Thinking of a pre-runner style with the fiberglass fenders and such. less to rust up here with the salt in the winter!
If I want to do some hard offroading, I'll just take out the cherokee that we use for trail riding that doesn't matter what I hit with it.

Re: Will this set up work?

nothing wrong with lifting a 2wheel drive, as ninja they are better on gas, less weight, lifted 2wds looks mint, and wanting to be differnet and stand out from the crowd, not many people lift a 2wd, it looks good, check out this lifted 2wd first gen

Re: Will this set up work?

its rather simple...

a 2wd... does not have 4wd....

so basically, sure have fun lifting you 2wd, thats fine for a street queen, get your mileage, thats fine, but you better have a 4x4 truck with you to pull you out every 10 seconds
