What lift?????
I just bought a 2001 ZR2. Does anyone know how I can see what kind of lift I have? Anything would really help.

Re: What lift?????
It looks like a combonation of a suspension lift and body lift. You can see the Frame of the truck much more so then on a regular ZR2 so I would guess there's a 2" kit in it. Plus, the suspension height looks like its a little more than a ZR2. The Torsion bars look like they are aftermarket judging from the way they are mounted.
Just look at the body mounts to the Frame. If there are 2" or 3" blocks in there then there's a Body Lift. As I said, I would guess some sort of suspension work was done too looking at the torsion bars, OEM ones are up inside the frame, these have a bracket of some sort to lower them. The driveshaft is also at an angle that is steeper than most. I hope that helps. What size tires are on that? |

Re: What lift?????
Yeah there is a body lift. I am thinking it's a 2inch. but it's the suspension I can't figure out. The tires are 35x10.5x15. And there is no rubbing at full turn. |

Re: What lift?????
yea. clear corners, a billet grille insert, and duals...and that truck would be rockin even more. oh...in the autotrader site, it said that it has a 6" sus. lift. i am willing to bet that the kit is the 6" superlift kit.

Re: What lift?????
not saying your wrong...but on that auto trader site you put up with your truck in it...it says it has a 6" suspension lift. and i think superlift is the only company that makes a 6" kit for the zr2

Re: What lift?????
It's a 5" BDS, you can tell by the front swaybar drop brackets and the bolts pointing down on the rear flip .

Re: What lift?????
the superlift kit uses a rear flip and front sway bar drop brackets also. AND...in auto trader, it DID state that it was a 6" kit....NOT a 5". and like i said before.... the only manufacturer that i know of that has a 6" kit for the zr2 is superlift. BDS only makes a 5" kit. 2 hands up for superlift from me

Re: What lift?????
umm i hate to tell you this but http://www.autocheck.com says that your truck has been through SEVEN "events". Don't know exactly what those events were but I think they are considered major repairs or accidents. You have to pay to get the report that tells you exactly what happened. Hope I didn't rain on your parade cuz its a beautiful lookin truck, just thought I would inform ya.

Re: What lift?????
I got a carfax and it's clean. it's a BDS 5 inch and there is a 2 inch body lift. And tonight i just got pulled over and my tires are illegal, no mud flaps, and tail lights are illegal....I have to change some things now that sucks.

Re: What lift?????
dang. tough break man. oh, and while you're changing things....if you wheel your truck off road alot(over rocks and logs esp.), then you might want to turn the u-bolts in the rear over. to where they face upward. that will keep them from being bent or broken off if something hits them. i had a buddy with a 3/4 ton chevy that last winter while we were running dogs, he had a rock break both u-bolts on the drivers side off, and ended up destroying both bedisdes, both rear tires, axle, leafs, drive shaft. when it broke off, the axle pivoted on the passenger side, and came completely unhooked. thats a great deal that you got on it. congrats

Re: What lift?????
S10ExtremeSR, you'll probably have to get a set of something like Eagle Alloy 146s...they're 15x8 with 5.5" of backspacing...you can still run the 35s, but they only stick out 1.5" more than stock (stock is 15x7, 6" backspacing) That's about as close to stock width as you can go with the rims that are out there. I know on ZR2.com you mentioned going back to stock rims with 33s. I wouldn't do it...it makes the truck too narrow for the height. When I first got my BDS on, I ran around for a month with the stock wheels and 31s, and the truck was pretty tippy coming off exit ramps, around corners. JMO. |

Re: What lift?????
s10extreme, this was just a thought. it would cost a few$$$ but could keep you legal without changing wheels. i'm not sure if they make them for the zr2, but i know they do for the regular s-10s. i'm thinking if you put fiberglass front fenders and bedsides in, and then custom flares ontop of that, then your tires might not stick out as much. its just a though that might keep you legal Last edited by 02sten; 09-11-2004 at 11:56 AM. |

Re: What lift?????
I have seen the fenders for s-10's. they are wide. But I hate that look. I like more of a look like the cut out fenders with the 5 inch flare on them. But I don't think they make them for s-series. I am going to see how much more rims would be with 5.5 or 6 inch backspacing are. unless someone can give me more options. I have 5.0 all over me cause of this truck.

Re: What lift?????
ummm. you can move to louisiana? haha. the only time that people give you crap about your tires sticking out too far is when you get your yearly inspection. but there are also alot of inspection stations here that don't care. they pass you even if you have a busted windshield, 2% tint on the front, and tires that stick out 2 feet. lol.

Re: What lift?????
if you do end up getting new rims, spend a little extra and get chromed ones instead of polished. i have polished, and red clay stains them like carpet. and when it comes time to re-polish them (once a month or so) it takes about 2 hours to do each wheel. i really wish i had spend the extra 40 bucks a rim for chromed.

Re: What lift?????
I was thinking about black maybe with a chrome ring. but it is hard to find a rim that has almost the stock backspacing for me to stay legal.
