thoughts on e-brakes.
well i took off my axle so it could be replaced, because of a stress fracture on the leaf mount caused by the flip kit and off roading. and it was a bitch to get the drum off to remove the e-brake.
The point is should i just remove the e-brake setup completely or should i leave it on when i put the truck back together? |

Re: thoughts on e-brakes.
i'd take the time to put it back in... not sure what the laws for inspection are regarding the e-brake... but its not that hard to put back in. just a lil patience is all you need.

Re: thoughts on e-brakes.
i havent decided completely, but i was pushin toward no e-brake. only reason for the thought is, for when i go off road and need to stop sometimes for being stuck, not wanting to roll back down. and sometimes for pics on hills

Re: thoughts on e-brakes.
well, ive seen it done both ways. i took the time to remove the cable from my rear axle when i tore it out, and hopefully it will work on my 14 bolt. i would like to have it, because with a stick i would have to shut it off to effectively brake it when i am not in it. with an auto, you have park, though it is not a good idea to put it in park on a good incline. also like stated above, i dont have any restrictions or inspections so anything goes with my truck. really its just a matter of preference, there are millions of vehicle out there, 4x4 specific, that have no ebrake due to a rear disk swap.

Re: thoughts on e-brakes.
if it's a stick i'd def try to hook it back up. an auto isnt as necessary.. but like donahue says.. inclines are a bitch on auto trannys!
but before you do anything i'd check the legalities on it... if youre in pa i can check for you when i go home this weekend... i work in my uncles garage.. and he tends to do things by the book... including my truck ![]() edit: never mind.. i see your from MI... pa laws wont do you any good... go check the MI laws on inspection before you do it! Re: thoughts on e-brakes.
well conveniently enough, i'll be the one to clear this up for you. i used to live in michigan and now live in pennsylvania and have worked for garages that do insp. now, Mi dosen't have state inspection, so nothing to worry about legality wise. and for Pa correctly functioning E brake IS a requirement of insp. |
