Nope, it took two one ton trucks to pull him out. I'm the one who got stuck 100 feet down the beach at the same time.

Look over the bed of my truck in this shot and you'll see his truck.

Looks like there is a good chance I will be heading up there with the fiance from the 26th - 28th (Sun. - Tues.) to meet with my parents and some neighbors that rented a Weekend Warrior. Will be taking my bike and the fiance's quad.

Well, I checked the weather before we went and it had rained up there two days prior. There was only a 10% chance of rain the day we were up there and it was 64* and sunny. The dunes were still darker than normal and moist from the rain a couple days earlier. It was perfect weather when we were up there Sunday. We took a buddy's old school ranger I don't have and pic's of and also this...

Jumped it numerous times...

and went a little too high once and busted the rear shock mounts. Some trick racing secrets out on the dunes got us back up and running for the day.

I used to live in lemoore CA small town out side of Fresno. I took my baja bug down there and got it stuck crossing the river took a full size bronco and a k5 blazer to get it outta the sand. I was mad but it ended up to be a good weekend. I miss pismo.

We didn't go that far over. If there is a decent high tide that day, it's almost guaranteed for water to be in the creek.

You pass right over it to get to the camping area. It really only gets full on a HIGH tide. Check it out here (About half way down the page)... http://www.socaloffroading.com/showthread.php?t=20

Ya, Thanksgiving is a busy weekend but Halloween is the kick off of the new season there. With it falling on a Wednesday this year, some people are going the weekend before, some the weekend after. Were going the weekend after.

The creek is gone, Ive been to pismo about 5 times in the last 2 months. Camped out, day trip, whatever.

I havnt seen the creek since 2006, it died ever since this drought started. IF it were to come back, it would be right before pole 2, its just before you get to the quad rental trailers.

Even during hightide, theres not enough water to make the creek, Its as if theyve filled in the sand high enough to prevent it. Its amlost imposslbe to spot where it was now.

Ohh ok yea i remember where that quad rental place was. I was looking for it while up there. When we went in July, i was expecting the creek. Dished out 40 bucks for new fenderwell inserts. Oh well. Has it been crowded up there lately?

Too bad glamis is too far away, or i would make a trip out there.

You usually only see the creek during a really high tide or a good winter storm. Usually the first few trips of the season it's still there. Otherwise ya, you drive right over it and not even realize it the rest of the year. It hasn't been crowded much at all becuase the cold weather is moving in.

Glamis is only about 3.5 hours away depending where your at. Not bad at all considering Pismo is a solid 2.5 - 3.

Re: S-10's at PISMO DUNES, PLANS FOR SUMMER

Im right at the border of L.A. County, a good 3 hrs or so to pismo, in my blazer. 2-2.5 in any other car. Glamis is about 3-4 ish. Pismo also has the beach going for it.

If it wasnt so damn cold i would think about going up there. I usually just go up to Gorman and go offroading up therre, only 2 hrs or so for me. This whole I-5 Accident really screwed up traffic flow.

Then again, neither is a AAA card and a cell phone just is in case it really is too far.

Re: S-10's at PISMO DUNES, PLANS FOR SUMMER

Swaping anything at location isnt fun. You just want to get out and play not swaping gears. The nice thing about having sed gears is that torque distribution is amazing. I can pull alot. As few may recall from pismo trip i easily pulled out a 2wd 1500 from sand. ALso rescued a ranger from a dink hole of doom.

Re: S-10's at PISMO DUNES, PLANS FOR SUMMER

did you guys air down?? I went riding there about a month ago and had to drive right through the high tide. The water went up all the way to the edge of the campers. We drove through the water for a 1/2 mile or so with no problems at all, besides the salt water getting all over my truck. Just air down anywhere from 10 - 15 psi all the way around and you'll be fine! I do it everytime and have never been stuck. Yeah so you have to air up afterwards, big deal

no, but it snowed slightly in paso, so im sure it snowed over there, too damn cold! and windy!

I say any weekend in july is good, should be warm and sunny and school will be out so perfect. We can have a fire and sing kumbuyah!

Hey evan have you seen my old truck cruising around slo or anywhere by chance?? a bunch of my friends say they see it all the time i have yet to see it after i sold it.

Sounds like theres decent interest. I talked to my crew down here and they're all up for another run, leaving dad at home this time...haha.

I got a Tahoe this past week so i have been having fun with that.

Looking forward to 4runner pics
