Re: Post Pics of Your Ride!
Heres my 88 4x4. i put a 350 in it, a 3" body lift, 3" torsion keys and a 5" TM lift. I used the soa kit that came with the TM lift and then put blocks on it. Cleared 38.5's great with no rubbing at all. But due to overheating problems with the small block i only got to drive it about two days.
![]() Changed my mind anyway and im going SFA w/ dana 60's front and rear. |

Re: Post Pics of Your Ride!
8" SFA to come this spring will look like this. Already turning the knuckles cutting the front Dana44 as we speak. Using Tuff Country full size chevy leaf springs up front and a NP241 transfer case to make my 2WD into 4x4. 265/70R17 BFGoodrich All-Terrain's on 17" Cragar Soft 8's.

Re: Post Pics of Your Ride!
Why are you going Chevy D44? You wouldn't have had to cut and turn the knuckles if you would have stayed with a HP Ford D44. I've got 12"+ (not including the body lift) and 37s and I didnt have to cut and turn at all.

Re: Post Pics of Your Ride!
Oh ok, well thats cool. I was just wondering because a high pinion axle makes driveline angles and all so much easier. If you don't intend to lift the truck a ton more, you should be in good shape. And don't get me wrong, you will have NO strength concerns, I would just almost go with a HP D44 and shorten it (if width is your concern) before anything else only if you think you might ever go higher. Let us know how your truck turns out. If it looks like that picture, it should look great. I mentioned Chevy axle because that picture shows a passenger drop axle up front.

Re: Post Pics of Your Ride!
I'm in Minnesota, wide tires are the devil in snow. Plus I got a deal on the 265/70R17's for only $105 a piece, new, so I ordered 5 just now. The rendering makes it look like a centered differential, waggy is a driver side.Edit: Oh, Also...I'm only using 3.73's front and rear for better fuel economy on the highway. This is no mud queen. Re: Post Pics of Your Ride!
Thats a good point. If I wasn't going to go over 33s I probably wouldn't have ever put axles underneath it. Once you take off stock-type applications, it never rides the same, etc.

Re: Post Pics of Your Ride!
I agree completely, that's what my HHR is for.
A real daily. But this will be my hunting truck that I tow with, take through cornfields and beanfields, plow with...do what a truck is meant to do. I don't mind the work involved. The only reason it needs a somewhat soft suspension compared to a monster's like NC4x4 is because I drive a good hour to the hunting spot. Last edited by Rinkrat456 : 02-21-2007 at 06:33 PM. |

Re: Post Pics of Your Ride!
once again my opinion haha. sorry i have more than just 2 cents
... i'd just keep this one as your actual daily and buy a 4x4 to go huntin with. can easily put 31s on it and it'll be 4x4 and ya wont have half as much work as sasing your current truck. also a fullsize might suit your application better esp for plowing. then you'll have the v8 too!Last edited by crazy91s10 : 02-21-2007 at 09:01 PM. |

Re: Post Pics of Your Ride!
all this speaking of not sfa if not goin big, wuts up with that?? i'm rollin on 31's now and not planning on goin bigger than 32's when i get new tires. and to throw salt in the cut, i havent even taken it offroad yet and its almost been sfa for 10 months now. ok, i havent taken it in the dirt yet, mainly cause i'm not with her right now. but would i do it again, yup. Y? other than maybe costing a little more than a IFS lift and more time to have done, there is no other drawback. It rides like a cadillac now, i rarely get bumpsteer, it doesnt rattle my jaw (and the interior) going down FM roads, has alot more capability, stronger, easier to repair, better MPG and its SFA. so my question is, why go IFS at all?
no intention to ruffle any feathers |

Guys, I have everything but the front driveshaft for this SFA swap. It's going down so no point in trying to talk me out of something that I already started. Save your fingers the hassle of typing and just don't. Last edited by Rinkrat456 : 02-21-2007 at 10:11 PM. |

Re: Post Pics of Your Ride!
BTW, I wasn't trying to talk you out of it, so don't take it that way. Just giving my general recommendation that I would to anyone so they don't spend the extra time and money if they aren't super sure they want to do it. Also, if you are going to be towing stuff, don't put a locker in the rear axle. Last edited by NC4x4 : 02-22-2007 at 02:01 AM. |

Re: Post Pics of Your Ride!
Right you are. The Ford 8.8 I have in the rear is a limited slip, stock from the Exploder. It's not going to be altered or changed, just different axle shafts with a 6x5.5 bolt pattern to match the D44 up front.

Hey rinkrat...I really like the look of your renderings for your truck. I looks like something GM should have built. And you paint scheme and wheel tire combo looks great. Now for a V8 and ...I'm drooling. Good luck.

Re: Post Pics of Your Ride!
Definately go with the green on top. Especially if you are gonna go with the black rims. If you left the black on top it would look like a Sonoma Sandwich on burnt toast.

Perfect...now if my wallet was only bigger. Been wanting to do a 6.0 swap myself but I'll probably do the 5.3 instead...bigger supply of used 5.3's that are more in my price range.
