Offroad tires best bang for the buck ?
Hey guys,Im getting a 96 Dodge Ram 4x4 1500 sport,it has 4" of suspension lift and Im shopping for some affordable mudders for it,I will be driving it to work but I dont care if they are noisy and dont last but a year because of that.It has 16 " rims Im thinking I could stuff some 33's under it.I need suggestions for affordable tires ,any help is appreciated.
Are dunlop mud rovers any good ? |

Re: Offroad tires best bang for the buck ?
We used Buckshot Maxxis Mudders on all our work trucks. theyr'e great tires and are pretty affordable.
MT-754 Buckshot Mudder - MUD TERRAIN The MT-754 Buckshot Mudder is perhaps Maxxis’ most popular off-road tire. The MT-754 boasts an extremely aggressive tread pattern as well as a rugged sidewall in order to handle even the most extreme terrain. In addition, the Buckshot Mudder features unique self-cleaning lugs that ensure maximum traction at all times.

hankook with the rt03.. not exactly cheap, but decent...
dayton timberline m/t.. dean sxt m/t.. you can probably clear bigger than a 33.. i'd say a 35 with 4" of lift on that truck... |

Re: Offroad tires best bang for the buck ?
let me tell you something.. I had a set of 32/11.50/15 buckshot mudders on my dodge a while back before I got the 33/13.50/15 ltb swampers on.... and those buckshot are pretty much the best tires I have ever owned on any of my trucks(and i have owned several). very good mileage on them never had a problem with a flat.
but ill tell you a story about those buckshots I had. one night I was headed to a friends house that I havent ever been to and he lived on a one way road and where you suppose to park your truck on the side of the road... well on the side of the road there was like a 4-5 foot ditch 2-3 feet from the side of the road. well the ditch was overgrown and looked like a great place to park my truck.... well you should know what happened next..... drove right in it like a dumb ass! well... I couldnt get it out myself and no one else's truck there had enough balls to get it out so I had to call AAA so I can get a tow truck. So they brought a flat bed. When the tow truck came, the driver told me the only way you can get your truck out is to put half the flat bed on the ground and the other half into the tire. So I sat there for a second and thought sure why not, what do I have to lose. The worse that can happen is I would have to buy a new tire or two. So the driver went on and did his dandy ole thing and he litterally put the end of the flat bed which is like a knife into the tire and pushed the tread of the tire all the way to the rim. and picked up the rear like that. I was so ammazed that the tire didnt pop! here a visual for the hell of it= ![]() but ya theres 10 minutes of my life that ill never get back. but thats my story! oh and heres a picture of my dodge acouple days after the buckshots on! ![]() you can still see the blue on the letters! Re: Offroad tires best bang for the buck ?
I like off-road tires that are pinned for studs.
I'd like to get myself some Stampede Radial XT/Wild Country RVT's. Also pinned for studs. I just wish they made the 33's wider than only 12.50 ![]() Review: http://www.4x4wire.com/mitsubishi/reviews/rvt_tires/ Last edited by ChrisInVT; 03-06-2008 at 09:22 AM. |
