Nice!
Where did you get the part of the intake that sits on the carb / throttle body? I'm swapping a 4.3 in my Toyota and want to do a snorkle setup again, but am thinking of how I can seal it to the tbi. |

wow that is a rather large blaze! is the length of the snorkel going to effect breathing negitively?

He's got the body mounted on a full size frame (stright axle) with a 454 and headers, just a few of the mods.

The intake piece is a TBI Hat from a 4.1 or preferably a 4.5 V8 equipped Caddy.

Re: new snorkel addition to the beast on 39's
Yes he is correct it is from a caddy, and yes it can effect the breathing negatively but the advantage of not flooding a 1,300 dollar engine that has more than enough power as it sits now......I need to find a place with more mud up here is all dirt....only after a long rain does it get anywhere descent..........But i'm moved to Fort Hood Tx in 6 months and i know theres mud down there....next couple of months i'll have some muddin pics on my website.
thanks for the replies Last edited by mudcovered; 09-24-2004 at 08:06 PM. |

Re: new snorkel addition to the beast on 39's
Not to be rude but what is the point of putting it on a diff frame. Why not just put solids on a s-10 frame??
Just curious. |

Re: new snorkel addition to the beast on 39's
becasue the motor mounts would be already done the bigger tank to fed the gas eaten 454 and the suspension is off the shelf stuff to build it plus the frame can handle it ..would be my guess my friend put a 79 porsche on a 76 blazer frame with a 400sb and a t400 on 36's it was like the old stomppers in the 80's then he tossed the p-body and put a 86 s-blazer on it much bette fit makes a nice ride too

Re: new snorkel addition to the beast on 39's
My last truck (actually a s15 jimmy same year and body) put a solid axle and 35 inch muds and i pulled the frame apart, not fun at all ruin the whole project and yes all the leafs had to be custom ordered (expensive)now i can just look up a leaf spring lift for a full size chevy if i wanted to go taller and swap the leafs out for the bigger ones......and i think the 454 would tear up the old frame......and yup instead of the 15 or 16 gallon tank i had before now i got 30 gallons.

looks great man. you going to snorkel the exhaust too? as long as you keep it running in the water, then you won't need to

Re: new snorkel addition to the beast on 39's
Thought about it, dual 5 inch pipes are not easy to make into snorkeled exhaust. Usually i dont go that deep its the mud infront of the truck that splashes up and tries to smother the intake in the engine compartment.

Re: new snorkel addition to the beast on 39's
I love how the intake is snorkeled but the heater/ac box isn't there letting water/mud dump into the cabin. Screw the passangers, as long as the truck stays alive! That's awesome, seriously!
