got myself a 85 s10

well, i got rid of my red 96 s10 and got this little toy.. i need to get new fenders and a bed and some other little things, but the 2.8 runs fine and 4wd and sh!t works. i plan on keepin this truck for awhile, not goin to take it out mudding and do stupid things with it alot but ill have a little fun here and there. this truck has a 3" body and 33" BFG All Terrains stuffed under it and im not sure how much the fenders were trimmed but it doesnt look bad lol.. fortunately it has the 60/40 seats or whatever and it just has a cheap Durabrand cd player that came in it and i put some Infinity 6 1/2"s i had laying around in the dash and thats all i got for now.. plans are to replace the bed and fender, raise the bumpers, maybe add some step bars to hide the frame, possibly replace the junky cd player and add a 10" sub and then just black primer it and fix an exhaust leak and any other little things and just make it good lookin little lifted truck. anyway, here are some random pics of it:

Re: got myself a 85 s10

well, ive only had the truck for a couple weeks, but its been cold and rainy and i dont have a big enough garage to work on a vehicle in.. the guy i got the truck from supposedly has a parts truck but ive not been able to get ahold of him.. but s10's are everywhere around here and i should be able to get replacement parts cheap or free lol.. im excited to have another s10, i miss my old truck already, but its good to see that the new owner drives it around town and seems to be taking care of it.. ive always wanted a lifted truck and now ive got that, so hopefully i have alot of fun memories in this truck.

anyway, i have a question... sometimes if i go to start my truck, it wont start... i have to give it some gas or prime it a couple times to start it.. a friend of mine says its "normal" for a carburated vehicle and ill get used to it.. is it normal to have to prime it first or is the starter or something going out? it isnt a major deal as it hasnt given me any real trouble to make me wish i hadnt gotten the truck but i just want everything on it to run smoothly.

Yeah for a carbed vehicle, its normal for you to press the accelerator in about 2 to 3 times to make sure there is gas in the engine to start it. I had to do it on the 77 gmc i restored, and i have to do it on my 86 waggy.

Well I say once if the carb is set up. I've driven many older chevy's and you have to pump many times to get enough gas in it to fire. I say pump once before you hit the key and see if that works for you.

Yeah my 70 El Camino is the same way. She won't start at all until you pump the pedal 3 times, but after that it fires right up...speakin of which I need to go start it sometime soon.
