the rest was from pirate vendors or fabbed.

as for the leafs, im going to pull a leaf out of each pack when the builds done and install ford shock towers and order longer shocks and inboard the rear shocks. My deckover trailer sits at 35 inch's right now and i can plop a tire on the deck and not pull a tire off the ground, it flex's good. we shall see if the cages affects that at all cause i imagine part of that is frame flex :P
i know all about it. my last truck was a 1 ton'd k5. and i am a member on both ck5 and pirate and of course krazyk5 as you figured out. i had a lot of stuff from DIY4x on my k5, and i even bought some stuff from him for this build. my dad and my best friend both still run full size chevys.

any plans for a doubler?

The bos welding up some of the cage

Cage leaning forward to weld up the top part of the cage

the bar going across the top at the windshield

one of the body mounts

you can see how close the frame is to the cab now

new rear bumper with receiver

another shot of the cage

i dont think my feet will be cold haha

Works about done. All that is left is paint and mounting some stuff to hold tools and spare parts.

Re: dunno if anyone cares but heres something different

How are you making the doors removeable? Are you leaving the locking clip off and then drilling a lil hole and using a pin or something different? I'm just curious because I want to make my doors removable.

i am just going to drill out the hole and run a 3/8" bolt as the pin. i will use a nylock or something to keep it in place.

Re: dunno if anyone cares but heres something different

Grinder to the pins. Took a hair off and they slide in and out with ease. If they become to much of an issue ill drill a small hole in the bottom and put a pin in it.

i forgot to say i had to cut a few of mine in half to get them out, thats why they are getting replaced with bolts.

Re: dunno if anyone cares but heres something different

ok you are doing what I was thinking with the grinder Thats what I read about a guy that did that to his k5 blazer and just used a lil cotter pin to hold the pins in.

Donahue Yeah I had to do that to one of my s10s but the door wasnt worth keeping so i just cut it off the hinges.

Re: dunno if anyone cares but heres something different

at this point i think my 89 will probably never get doors again. i think i want to build a full top one for fouler weather, and it will probably get the test sfa kit.

Re: dunno if anyone cares but heres something different

the blazers have the perfect shape for a cut top but im keeping mine on because i dont like bumping into a tree after it rains and getting 50 gallons of water dumped on me :| November it was snow brrrrr

once my doors get banged up some, im half dooring them. But for the time being ill just run them as they are. Only thing is i need to strip some stuff off them, cause there a 2 person job putting back on after taking the off.

I have 13 days to remount 5 tires, mount up spare parts and mount storage box's on the rig and my trailer lol. Busy busy....

Re: dunno if anyone cares but heres something different

just a update lol.

No longer running doors, Tree caved in the door sill so eh, oh well

Installed a 800watt amp with x2 500 watt outdoor speakers

6 LED's from Roundeye for Rock lights and trailer loading in the dark

Ripped my steering box off the frame, so im now running Full Hydro steering. PSC Orbital, stock gm pump with a Tractor supply ram. Works great!

Frame flex allowed the clutch fan to move into my nice aluminum radiator. Had the radiator repaired and installed a flex a lite flex fan. That would not cool the motor as i was running 250+ degrees :| I went to the junk yard and got 2 nissan pusher fans and they cover 100% of my radiator from the outside and now it sits at 180-185.

Now i just need to repair other crap ive broke, such as the spring plate studs on my dana 60 :P

hey Loose,
Sweet look'n truck. Did you just bolt the cage to the body or does it go to the frame? If it goes to the frame, can you get a pic of the perches you built or how it is welded to the frame. I am going to be caging my Dime and i just wanted to get some ideas. Again, sick ass truck brother!! I am glad i am in Cali , I got cold just looking at the pics.

Yea ill take pics tommorow. We built the cage in the cab, then sandwiched the body between the frame tie in's.

Im moving up to a 42 inch tire soon and before then i will be tubeing the front clip and skinning it. Should be interesting to say the least.
