95-97 Body Lift on a 98+

Just wondering what the 80 or so dollar difference is in the 2 kits? Is it just the brackets for bumper relocation? Or a whole different kit in general?

I'm assuming that they have the same amount of mount points, but I could be wrong on that, I've never crawled under a 95-97 to look.

Any insight?

I'm pretty sure the front bumper (on both early and late 2nd gens) is lifted with steel blocks. (Basically a piece of 2" square tubing cut to about 4" lengths.) Might be for the rear bumper but I'd like to know, too. I plan on lifting my '04 Blazer eventually.

I have a 95-97 body lift on my 99. Yes, the front bumper is just raised the 2" by the steel blocks. The rear, on the other hand, needs to be custom, especially if you have a hitch. I didn't even relocate my rear bumper, I just pounded the corners in and mounted some lights between the rear bumper and the body.

What exactly did you "pound in"? The bumper or the corner trim pieces? Good idea for a place for lights although I have the tailgate so that would probably be in the way of the lights. An LED strip might work well though. What's so special about the late 2nd gen rear bumper brackets that PA has to charge an extra 80 bucks? Also, I have a factory hitch so I'm not sure what I would do with that if I raised the rear bumper anyway.

Thanks for the info.

Re: 95-97 Body Lift on a 98+

Pretty nifty idea to fill the space above the bumper.

I have a 99 as well. I'm thinking about just ordering the Lift Blocks by themselves from Synergy. Fabbing a steel block to raise the front should be pretty straight forward and easy. And the hardware I can get cheap through my Dads account with A&I Bolt locally. The PA instructions even list all the hardware, makes it easy.

That leaves me with one question, how many 2" x 2" and 2" x 3" blocks did the 99 take? I'd hate to order the wrong amount for each, and be stuck waiting on more.

Thanks

Excellent way to do it and save some $$$. I have a first gen kit on my 96.

Re: 95-97 Body Lift on a 98+

I think I just had 12 2"x3" blocks and then the two steel tubing pieces for the front bumper + hardware, oil filter drop brackets etc. I'm not 100% on the # of blocks tho. I didn't touch my fuel filler neck and it works great. I also didn't extend or remount any brake lines because those just hung there out of the way anyway. You will just have to drop your oil filter bracket down 2". Make sure you have a skid plate up front. I ended up pushing my oil filter into my fan and having a heck of a day. So - fab yourself something up front there if you plan on doing any wheeling.

Was the Oil Filter Bracket pretty straight forward?

My underside has the composite skids from front to back, so the filter should be hidden and out of the way.

One more question, did you have to do anything with the fan shroud? The PA instructions say it needs to be lifted as well, is that necessary?

Just need to put spacers in between the two peices of the shroud because they will hit the fan.
