33's clear on lifted zr2?

Ive got a 97 s 10 zr2, im looking at putting 33 12.50 15's on it. It has a 2inch body lit, i have heard that that may be enuf but i would also be willing to lift it another 2 in with the suspension. Any body know if they would fit?

Also, with a torsion key/shackel lift, how is the ride?

Is yours a zr2? I suppose thats still way higher than mine would be. Could it be wheel off set that makes yours rub? I have stock offset on my wheels so that may help

Re: 33's clear on lifted zr2?

There are guys at zr2usa.com running 5-6 inches of suspension lift and barely clearing 33's

Re: 33's clear on lifted zr2?

its really random, it all depends on how well you do your lift if you do a susp. lift. as for "is yours a zr2?" no its not but its much higher than a 2" BL and 2" Susp. lift. i had to change my backspacing just to fit them... they fit fine for me its just when i get into things where say 2 of the wheels are in the air and the other ones are in a 3 foot rut.

Re: 33's clear on lifted zr2?

ive got a zr2 with 2 inch body and ive got 32x10.50 swamper radials on there... no scrubbing when driving around town but fully flexed off road when turning i scrub so no 33's man sorry. those 32's come within a half an inch of touching my "trimmed" flares when driving on the street

Re: 33's clear on lifted zr2?

you can fit 33's with a tb crank, custom shackles and a 2" BL, i have seen many z's with that setup

i wouldnt dare do it though, if you went offroading, you would rip up everything as soon as you flex

Re: 33's clear on lifted zr2?

i got a zr2 with a 6" superlift, 33x12.50s on 8" rims with 4" backspacing and they rub when turning and hitting a decent bump. BUT i found out the other night they will also rub when fully straight and hitting a BIG dip. im guessing it was on the flares but still, thought i had more clearance than that. guess i have an excuse to put dual shocks on the front, it does feel pretty soft.

F9K9 what backspacing are you running on your truck? how much body lift? and how extensive was your trimming?

Re: 33's clear on lifted zr2?

I have a non-ZR2, but the lift requirements are still usually about the same unless you can do a super job clearing out the fender well like F9K9. I had 5" suspension and 2" body and still had a little beating and trimming to do on the corners to fit 33x12.50s.

It fits with the 2" BL, 1" Tbar crank, shackles, stock rims, and some trimming:

Doesn't rub offroad either:

Re: 33's clear on lifted zr2?

I was thinking of buying a 2 in body lift and putting 33's on but after readin ghtis idk, what is a bout a 3 inch body lift and did some trimming, do you think they would rub badly then? My truck sees mainly highway driving, but i still like to find some back roads and have some fun, not to mention winter driving.

eh, I wouldnt reccomend more than a 2inch bodylift. I have 2 inches in mine. Anything more than 2 iches requires moving the steering column down in the firewall and that looks like a bitch to do. Also, depending on the year it could affect the steering shaft. Older s10s have 2 piece steering shafts that are bolted together in the center, those you simply add the lengthener that comes with the body lift kit. Newer ones like mine have a slip joint in the center of the steering shaft. If you do just a 2 inch body lift, the slip in the shaft has enuf slide to lengthen itself. Any thing more than 2 iches, it binds and you hafto install an older style steering shaft that bolts together.

So it kinda depends on your steering shaft. But moving the column down in the firewall (which you hafto do either way with 3inch lifts) looks like allot of work to me for one more inch. You could crank the t bars and add shackles to get that extra lift.

Re: 33's clear on lifted zr2?

Here is my truck with a 2 inch body lift, 2 front t bar crank and 1 " shackle in the rear. Rides level, lil stiff in the front but I like it. Tires a still just 31s, wish I would have done 32s or maybe skinny 33s

tires are turned slightley to the left
