Re: Project: Fix to busted CV shafts & wheel bearings! 56k no no

I have a NON Z S10 with 2" body lift and 1" shackle lift/Tbars cranked 1" and I have 31s that BARELY rub at full lock and I have minimal trimming. So if you did maybe 1.5-2" shackle/Tbar lift and a good amount of trimming you'd be okay I think

baggey, you running 33s on your sas too?

i think trucks with a SAS look so much more aggressive anyway. SAS FTMFW! haha, im all for them now!

but if your set on 33s or 32s i think you'll either have to SAS or get a 5-6 IFS lift

cant answer that. haha. i dont know my tires and wheels too well. like i already said.. might as well just keep stock wheels and a 31-10.5 if you are planning on doing a SAS soon?

I don't think 31s come much wider than like 10.5 or 11 inches wide.
Heres mine with 31/10.5/R15

Say NO to new Tbar keys. They do more harm than good. You REALLY shouldn't go over 1.5 inches with a Tbar crank, it puts the CV axles at a bad angle for breakage

Re: Project: Fix to busted CV shafts & wheel bearings! 56k no no

all this talk about tires, i ran 32's with stock suspension. i would have easily ran 35's with the same setup, and if i wasnt worried about turning or breaking the rear axle in half, i may have considered running my 38's with no lift too. its all about perspective...

Thumbs down Re: Project: Fix to busted CV shafts & wheel bearings! 56k no no

ive been watching u do the buildup on this thread, and great job, your truck looks great. just a ?, how much lift did you get. also the only thing i dont like so much is your front spring mounts, it just looks bulky, is it possible to have made it smaller or did it have to hang down that far so springs cleared. it can be covered up with a nice sheet of plished diomond plat for cheap though hehe. great truck though, not trying to bash it just wondering.

kinda like that pole at sheetz huh? well i lucked out, checked my bulbs and they were both blown out..

and joe, it could have been made "slimmer" to tuck into the frame more, and i coulf of cut notches out in my frame for it. but this way is the most common / simplest way to do it. its really not that bad in person IMO. and i may make a skid plate from my bumper to it.

and i think i got about 5-7" of lift. dont know exaclty off the top of my head. i think im 8-9" over a stock Z.

Re: Project: Fix to busted CV shafts & wheel bearings! 56k no no

one thing to consider about the front crossmember, usually if you run it up into the frame, it has a tendency to make the springs sit at an angle, and can play havoc on you when you go to set the pinion angle and or steering linkage. the one that i have designed right now for my kit drops it 5.5"-6" off the bottom of the frame, and buy doing that it makes the spring almost flat. though, i have designed mine to look good too, and it gives room for a winch below the core support, but you get my drift.

i'm pretty sure you'll need some flattop knuckles to do this. check on paragon forum... i know i've seen a few sets pop up there.

edit... unless theres a way to make your own... which i've never seen it done

the places ive worked, they laugh at the degree guys. im not saying your a bad welder, but a degree or certification means nothing to me, its all about experience. the only thing it would be good for is more money in a union job.

you can try. they are about the same length, 2.5" wide with a similarly super soft spring rate. i do believe they have an offset pin unlike the s10 springs.

you could use all but the main leaf if you wanted or you could drill it out but from what i understand that is a pain. do you want them for the front or for the rear?

Maybe it would help your truck if you took the packs you already have and get them rearched by a professional. Get them even so the truck will sit level. Also have you checked your shackle mounts? Maybe one of them shifted or something

you can redrill springs, but i hear (never done it) its a pain. you could also run them like that, and move the axle farther forward. it might screw up the steering a bit but it might not be too bad, and would have a better approach angle. FYI, i set my front axle a foot forward from stock.
