pointless with less than a 38. remember, they have a 10.5 ring gear, and you pay for strength with ground clearance.

3.07? I would worry about regearing that axle before you get a drive shaft. Having that driveshaft will do you no good since your gear set won't match at all.

mine wasnt too rusty, so it wasnt bad.
ive heard tbars and pitman arms can be bitches. but mine came right off.
hardest part for me was getting the diff out, you have to pry and jiggle that mofo around until it drops out. haha it was a pain! but that was my hardest part

maybe an hour start to finish. BUT i had 4 ppl working on it

Re: Project: Fix to busted CV shafts & wheel bearings! 56k no no

alright, so i went out to the amish today, got my pipe cut and bent for 25$ (very cheap) and i also went to tractor supply to pick up some square stock for a DS. came home with something better, for 90$! a pre made PTO drive shaft that is square / round

since it had the wrong ends, i had to cut my old drive shaft and this brand new on all up. and came up with this

and i guess i forgot to take finished pics of it. anyway, after i made the DS i went ahead and cleaned up my frame

got my shock hoops tacked on, checked it out for clearance

pulled the tires back off to finish weld them. and cut the bottoms of the pipe off (sorry no finished pics) im going to paint my frame up tomorrow, so ill get some then!

so alls i have left is.

drop pitman arm, gears, tranny xmember, figure out the tranny slip, and get new ujoints for my axle!!!

Re: Project: Fix to busted CV shafts & wheel bearings! 56k no no

If at all possible, I would get some flat steel pieces and weld to the sides of the tubing and the frame and the some triangular shaped pieces for the back of the tubing to the top of the frame. Definitely want to reinforce that pretty good for sure, as much as possible (without being too ridiculous of course).

Thanks, I appreciate it. Just trying to contribute! I have some decent little ideas for it, if you don't already have the plan laid out, which I'm sure you do. Let me know.

i wouldnt worry that much about the shock hoop, its just a shock. i know people that dont even run them. the only way you could mess those up is by bottoming out the shock.

Since you cut and welded your new drive shaft, how well is it going to balance?

Off topic: so the cops just came to my house, wanted to look at my truck. i guess there was a hit and run lastnight and my truck fit the description, "it was a little lifted truck". so my dad, the cop, and i went to the garage, he LOVED my truck and wants me to lift his jeep cherokee (with a kit) how much should i charge him? at least im on his good side!

only had 40$ on me, came out to like 41.86 , but the hott girl with a lifted truck that works there gave me a discount to get it all! she must be into me.. shes freakin hott!! hahaha lucky me everytime i go there, she is there so we chat!

ok, done. im just a happy shopper there!

my girlfriend is into the trucks---but its kinda mechanically dumb.....ok VERY mechanically dumb.............but at least she wants to learn....

can you say buy my truck back from insurance and build it up with her help?

(still waiting for the appraiser to call)

You're gonna sell it? Why did you put the money into it if you're just gonna sell it? Could have easily just put a few hundred into fixing the CV shafts and wheel bearings and sold it a month or two ago.
