Don,
what T case do you have? My S10 has an NP207 with a slip yoke.. I am thinking about throwing in the front half of a NP231C and doing a D300 flipped and bolted to that for a doubler.

i have a 231/241 doubler. i assume you are talking about d&d's doubler, thats what i have. if you run the 300 behind it, you have to flip the first case to clear the driveshaft. but its a common enough swap and you can find all you need to know on the pirate threads.

If I do the D300 doubler, I will either use the doubler kit from D&D, or madrooster off road, and I will get the flip kit from D&D for the D300...

you might have to change the hole output shaft, and if your doing that you might aswell just put a 231 in it that already has the fixed yoke and the manual shift.

one more thing, count the mounting bolts while you are at it. i want to know if it is 5 or 6

yeah, thats a sm465/205 its a good combo but any full size older than 88 will be pass drop. and $200 is too much for that combo let alone $500

not where the adapter mounts to the trans, but where the t-case mounts to the adapter. one thing, you will need to get the shifter for the correct t-case. you will also need a different rear driveline for the 241, it has a 32 spline rear slip yoke verse 27 spline that the s10 case has.

if you get a 241 from a 1/2 ton, it is likely to have the same u-joint size and all you would need is the female end of the slip yoke, and you could probably put it on your current driveline.

The rear is just a longer driveshaft with the same slip yoke.
At full droop, the slip yoke won't come off the output shaft.

On the front, for now anyhow, I had access to a slip yoke that had a been drilled out for a set screw. I ground a "V" into the splines of the front output shaft, put the set screw into the slip yoke, and tightened it down enough to where the driveshaft would pull apart before it ever began attempting to pull off the output shaft.

If any of that doesn't make sense, just let me know.

There isn't much "claiming" to it. I've known for quite a long time just how well the setup flexes.

I didn't think you needed me to tell you anymore since Donahue told you last night that it wouldn't spin with the vacuum disconnected.

I'll see what I can do this week. It's suppose to snow quite a bit (so they say ) tonight and tomorrow, so I don't know if I will get to it right away but I'll see what I can do.

As far as the set screw, it is maybe 5/16ths or 3/8s thick, I guess. You don't have to grind all the way around the shaft because the "V" should be deep enough (relative to the set screw, not anywhere near 1/4 into the shaft at all haha) to where the set screw will not allow the slip yoke to travel forwards or sideways for that matter. Only issue I may could see is if the front square driveshaft gets caught on something, it may cause the set screw to want to move on the output shaft, but that would probably be quite rare if you notched well enough and tightened the set screw well enough (with anti-seize of course).

oh you puss. learn how to drive in the snow! haha.

yea i def think im going to do it this way. how will i know where to groove the output shaft? maybe drill and tap the yoke, slid it on, put paint on a bolt head, run that in until it touches, back it out, pull off the DS and have a paint mark on the output shaft... hmm?

but yea, thats a good idea, dont you already have a pic of your tranny cross member, i know i seen it before. ill go browse your thread!

ok, so i think my front drive shaft needs to be roughly 28" at ride height.
im planning on getting square tube of. 2x2x1/4" at 16" and a piece of 2.5x2.5x1/4" at 18" long along with 8-10' of 1" Sch. 40 pipe for my shock hoops and tranny crossmember.

going to get a price now. think the DS lengths will be enough?

this is how i figured our last sq one. take your yokes and figure out where you are going to cut them off, and how long they are from the u-joint center to the cut. something like 3" is what i would expect. now flex your drivers side up to full compression and measure that distance from your yoke to yoke. this tells you how short it has to be able to go. say that is 26". now take your measurements from before, add them together for both yokes, and take that off this minimum distance. now we have 20". then take another 2" or so for safety and you have 18". now if you had two pieces of square tube that fit inside each other and were 18" long this setup would be about perfect. one more thing though, when i did it i forgot to take into account the part of the yoke that went into the larger square. if you do it that way, make sure you take that amount off the smaller tube's length.

does this all make sense? measure what the minimum needs to be and go from there.

If you want to PM me I can give you info to contact me, if it would be easier that way. It's up to you, I just figure I can explain it easier, quicker, and less painlessly that way.

The main reason I said I will try to get one after the snow is gone is because I'd have to get up under there pretty good to take a picture, and the ground is still pretty nasty for the time being.
I had all new exhaust put in after I ran practically "open headers" there for a handful of weeks. Got the drivers' side pipe tucked pretty neatly under the transmission and then had the back in look like this...

the 9" may be full width, also the gearing may be off, and your bolt patterns will be different. . . again.
