Re: Project: Fix to busted CV shafts & wheel bearings! 56k no no

well i got sick of working on my truck, so i bought a new one. its pretty badass. its got pre runner bumpers pulled fenders and bed sides and is an auto matic.

just bought it about 4 hours ago, we're all getting back into the hobby. all my buddies got tmaxxs, i decided to give this a shot. its the new traxxas slayer, 3.3 nitro, 4wd, goes 50+ stock, 2 spd tranny scored it for 400$ new

this one is just a pic from the net, mine is white and black i think? i dunnno. i opened er up and drove the shit outta it.

i hear the new revo emaxxs are the shit! i like this thing so far, just rolls a little easy for me. i need to find some long arms for the front or something.

i think they are the same as revos so i might be able to use the front arms off it.

I couldn't justify that much for an R/C car... I have some slightly modified AWD Radio Shack trucks that are good enough for me

Here's mine

I built a 2.5" longer chassis, added lockers, 600 series motors, 7" Moabs, narrowed the wheels, shocks, lower gears, etc., etc.,......

It's a lot of fun over at Disney, well other than packing around 10 extra batteries.

If I found a used one for cheap, I'd get it - but for $400 I could buy a beater S10 and tromp on it through the woods

It depends, if it has the stock gearing and your running it wide open they last about 5 minutes, but geared down and crawling they last 20-25 minutes. I can take 8-10 charged batteries and run it at Disney for a couple of hours.

I haven't charged them with my inverter yet, but my charger is ac/dc, so it will charge off of any car battery any way.

The best way to get one is to watch ebay and buy one that already has a lot of batteries, chargers, extra tires, wheels, gears, motors, and parts. My dad sold his about a month ago with a ton of extras and I think it brought $400 something, which was a bargain considering what it came with.

We go out to the Allegheny River every year for a fishing trip. We stay at Marlowes Campground in Kennerdell. Ever hear of it?? Its about 1-1 1/2 hours away from you.

I woulda stopped by but my dad didn't want to. Maybe I'll see about stopping by next time. I think we're going back up there around the end of August.

You're gonna sell it, then a couple of years from now you're gonna want to go wheeling and end up building another. Then you're gonna think to yourself, damn, I wish I'd have kept my s10.

Oh that's gay. I never go wheeling with anyone, I always go alone; I have nobody to wheel with so I'm use to it.

Not to thread jack but I saw you were working on some half doors. I just did a set on my blazer. They are actually 1/4 doors but I like them. They actually keep a lot of crud out too.

That's why I keep my truck street legal, street friendly, and usable in every way. That way it doesn't set idle between wheeling trips.

Hate to see you sell it.

My grandparents had one at one time and it was a really nice car. IIRC, it had a self-stabilizing unit that would shift the lean of the car if you were pulled off the road, etc., to not make it too difficult to get out. Pretty spiffy...
